Seattle Farm School’s 2nd annual Urban Farm Tour takes place on August 12 from 10am-3pm.

Explore the best urban farms in West Seattle during this self-guided tour. See examples of edible landscaping, vertical gardens, orchards, container gardens, permaculture guilds, small space gardens, chicken coops, beekeeping, rainwater harvesting, and more.

Seattle Farm School’s Founder, Katie Stemp, says of the tour, “Seattle is a national hot spot for urban farming, and this is an opportunity to go behind-the-scenes of private residences. It’s amazing to see the variety of urban farms people have created in their city lots.”

Get inspired and meet an incredible community of urban farmers! Tickets are $15 for adults, and children 18 and under are FREE with an adult! Available at: http://www.seattlefarmschool.com/urban-farm-tour/

**For same-day ticket sales on tour day, see the two locations listed at that link**

Upon purchasing your tickets, you’ll receive detailed write-ups for each location. See them all or spend more time at the ones that interest you the most. Here’s a little teaser about one of this year’s urban farms.

“Don’t miss your chance to check out this double-lot urban farm tucked into a neighborhood in West Seattle! This land used to be the neighborhood trash dump, but now it’s the talk of the town. The owners have been reclaiming this land since 2013. They’ve removed 2,000 pounds of garbage and instead, added 50+ fruit and nut trees, a large chicken coop with more than 20 birds, multiple bee hives, and lots of edible landscaping. There is also a 600 square foot hoop house that enables them to grow food year-round, and they have ~1,400 gallons of rainwater storage. The Buried Treasure Urban Farm is named for the trash that was once buried there, but is now beloved for the rich soil that covers the 1/2-acre plot. Excited about farm fresh eggs? This site will have theirs for sale!”
