West Seattle’s Neighborhood Ski and Snowboard Shop Invites Customers to Celebrate on Black Friday!
In celebration of its 3rd anniversary, from 10 am-7 pm on Black Friday (November 23rd), Mountain to Sound Outfitters will offer 10% off on all current year product as well as specials on gear, service, rides on the Seattle Ski Shuttle (also operated by M2S), as well as gift certificates for Alki Kayak Tours for those interested in giving experiences as well as stuff. Along with the sale, they will also be having their annual after Thanksgiving BBQ for customers.
Fondly remembering the night before opening the store, Adam Price recalls “We took a 1 hour break to go up and feast on turkey at a friends house up the hill, and then came right back to continue getting ready for our opening on Black Friday. We worked until 2 am.” The entire Mountain to Sound team worked unearthly hours to get the store setup for our first day, and opened to an eager skiing and snowboarding crowd in West Seattle on November 27, 2009.
Mountain to Sound Outfitters, or M2S, is celebrating its 3rd anniversary this Thanksgiving, and contributes the store’s success to the support of the West Seattle neighborhood. “We have the largest neighborhood in the city of Seattle, and we also have the most loyal”, says Greg Whittaker, owner of the shop. “We live and work in West Seattle and it is our mission to continue to create a neighborhood ski and snowboard shop and
a regional paddlesports shop.” For the last 3 years Mountain to Sound has worked to reach this goal, and continues to try to take care of its local clients so they don’t have to cross bridges for specialty service

Along with the sale, we will also be having our annual after Thanksgiving BBQ for customers. “Come on by and hang out to watch a snowboard video and grab a bite”, says Roman Benninghoven, “and don’t forget to tip your ski tech!” he adds.
“Mountain to Sound Outfitters opened in a recession, and has held on due to the faithful clients continuing to support us. With more and more ski and snowboard shops disappearing, new shops are sprouting up less
and less. West Seattle has appreciated this fact and come out to keep the tuning machines running. As soon as the economy turns around, we will have established ourselves as viable and have brand identity,” mentions Greg. “If we can create jobs that keep people working in West Seattle, and have fun doing what we love, I call the shop a success”.
Mountain to Sound Outfitters won the West Seattle Chamber of Commerce Emerging Business of the Year award in 2011. M2S is sister companies with long time West Seattle business, Alki Kayak Tours. In addition, M2S will be folding the Seattle Ski Shuttle into its operations this year, and also partners with Sea Kayaker Magazine to host the Northwest Paddling Festival, which will be in its 3rd year this upcoming summer.
