“I Am Not Your Negro” and Discussion with Special Guest Robin DiAngelo

An Equity and Social Justice Project of Common Quest Adult Education, WSUU; and Black UU’s of the Pacific Northwest

“In his critically acclaimed film, director Raoul Peck envisions the book James Baldwin never finished – a radical narration about race in America, using the writer’s original words. He draws upon James Baldwin’s notes on the lives and assassinations of Medgar Evers, Malcolm X, and Martin Luther King, Jr. to explore and bring a fresh and radical perspective to the current racial narrative in America.”

After the film, noted scholar, author, and activist Robin J. DiAngelo will speak on the continued relevance of Baldwin’s work, and its particular challenge to white-skinned folks looking for ways to advance the cause of racial justice. The evening will end with a brief community Q & A, moderated by event host Cecelia Hayes
