The West Seattle YMCA (WSB sponsor) is inviting all kids and parents to for a free community open house on Saturday, April 30 – Healthy Kids Day®, the Y’s national initiative to improve the health and well-being of kids and families. This year marks the 25th annual Healthy Kids Day®, and the goal is to inspire more kids to keep their minds and bodies active.
The first 100 kids receive a free t-shirt and from 10:00 am–1:00 pm the event will feature fun family activities like: a climbing wall, a family ZUMBA® class, free bicycle helmets and fittings for the first 200 kids, healthy drinks from Chaco Canyon and Smith Brothers Farms, gaga ball, pool relays and water safety fun.
New for this year is a branch-wide scavenger hunt with the chance to win great prizes. Learn more and sign up here >> http://ymcahkd.org/
YMCA’s Healthy Kids Day, celebrated at over 1,300 Ys across the country by over 1.2 million participants, works to get more kids moving and learning, creating habits that they continue all year long. During out-of-school time, kids can face hurdles that prevent them from reaching their full potential. Research shows that without access to out-of-school physical and learning activities, kids fall behind academically. Kids also gain weight twice as fast during down time than the school year. The Y hopes to focus on wowing them with their potential and make this their best year ever by staying active and learning.
