At the Delridge Library:

The Seattle Public Library, United Way of King County and AARP are collaborating to offer free tax preparation service through mid-April at 12 locations of the Seattle Public Library. Trained volunteers will answer questions and help prepare personal tax returns. The service is not available for business tax returns.

Drop-in assistance will be offered on a first-come, first-served basis at Delridge Library on Mondays, 2-7 p.m. through April 10. There is no tax help on Feb. 20, President’s Day.

For a list of required documents to bring to tax help, and more tax help sites click here.

Due to federal budget cuts the IRS is unable to provide the Library with certain tax forms and instruction booklets. Most IRS forms are available online at www.irs.gov. You may make black-and-white prints of the forms from Library computers for $.15 per page.

Required Documents
To receive tax help, bring one of these identifying documents:
– Social Security Card
– Tax form SSA 1099 (Social Security benefits)
– Medicare card (if Social Security number is followed by an “A”)
– Official documents on Social Security Administration letterhead

Photocopies or computer print-outs of any these documents will not be accepted.

In fact, appointments are not needed for tax help at the Delridge Library. It is drop-in – first come, first served.
