Join us for a two-part event! First, author Anna Redsand will read from To Drink From the Silver Cup: From Faith Through Exile and Beyond. Second, Ann Przyzycki, editor of Isthmus, a literary journal published in Seattle, will join Anna (a former contributor to the journal) in a dialog on publishing: what are the challenges of starting a publication or of finding a publisher for your book; what does an editor want in a publishable piece; what does an author want in a publisher? The audience will be invited to ask questions and share their comments and experiences.

To Drink from the Silver Cup: From Faith Through Exile and Beyond is about the author’s journey from a devout childhood and adolescence as the daughter of fundamentalist missionaries in the Navajo Nation, through leaving the church after discovering there would be no place for her there as a young lesbian. She spent the next forty years learning from other spiritual traditions, always longing for home. Eventually she embarked upon a deliberate experiment to see if she could find kinship in a faith community when she no longer believed much of what she had been taught. (www.annaredsand.com)

Isthmus is a print journal of fiction, nonfiction, and poetry, published biannually in Seattle. Our goal is to produce a thoughtful, memorable reading experience that showcases a range of styles and perspectives. We hope to bring a little of Seattle to the world and a little of the rest of the world to Seattle. Founded in 2014, Isthmus has received three listings for Notable Essays and one listing for a Recognized Story in the Best American Series. (www.isthmusreview.com)
