LOW-LOW TIDE: Lowest low tide you’ll see for the rest of the summer, same as yesterday: -2.6 feet, but bottoming out a bit later, at 12:28 pm. To help you understand what you’re seeing, and how to travel lightly on the shore, Seattle Aquarium volunteer beach naturalists are out at Constellation Park and Lincoln Park beaches again, 10:45 am-2:15 pm.

WEST SEATTLE FOOD BANK/HELPLINE OPEN HOUSE: Everyone’s invited:

Please join the Board of Directors of both the West Seattle Food Bank and the West Seattle Helpline for our Open House, tonight, June 25th from 5 – 7:30 pm in conjunction with the West Seattle Chamber After Hours. Both the Food Bank and Helpline will have board members, staff and volunteers on hand to answer questions, give you a behind-the-scenes look at how both of our programs and collaboration help those in our West Seattle community that are in need of our help. Appetizers will be served and provided by Pecado Bueno in the Junction and Seattle & Oregon Wine Awards. West Seattle’s own 11 Olives will be doing a tasting of their Olive Oil and Balsamic Vinegar. Everyone is welcome including the kids. We have limited parking in our garage but there is plenty of street parking. We hope to meet you all tonight.

DESIGN REVIEW DOUBLEHEADER: Two projects are on the Southwest Design Review Board agenda tonight at the Senior Center of West Seattle. 6:30 pm, it’s the second Early Design Guidance review of the proposed CVS drugstore at 4722 Fauntleroy Way SW (previewed here; design packet also viewable here), and then at 8 pm, it’s the first Early Design Guidance review of the latest proposal for developing High Point’s last big stretch of vacant land at 35th/Graham, described on DPD’s website as “a 4-story structure containing 89 residential units, 8,500 sq. ft. of office space and 1,500 sq. ft. of retail space located at ground level. surface parking for 98 vehicles to be provided” (design packet here). Lezlie Jane, West Seattle artist, will engage our community with a presentation for two art installations she is creating for Junction 47 – the new building on California & Alaska, kitty-corner from Easy Street Records. There are 11 small glass sculptures and 10 historical bronze panels planned for exterior niches around the building. JuNO has been involved with the WS Community group working with the City behind the scenes for five years to seek amenities like wider sidewalks, underground utilities and artwork for our community. We will discuss concepts for 10 historical panels and glass sculptures.

The Lonely Coast (Valerie Holt & Anne Mathews) perform close-harmony duets of folk and traditional music from Europe and the Americas.

Ballet Folklorico Angeles de Mexico shares Mexican culture in a welcoming environment where people from 5 to 105 can have fun and experience traditions from all over Mexico. Founder and director Aurelia Ramos has over 30 years of folkloric dancing experience. As part of Duwamish Revealed, she and her dance partner Jose Antonio Malagon Garcia “Pepe” will be teaching a 12-week series of free folkloric dance workshops, ending with a performance at the Duwamish Water Festival on Sunday, Aug. 16th. All are welcome. Workshops May 16 – August 8 on Saturdays, 2-6 pm at the South Park Neighborhood Center (8201 10th Ave S); and Tuesdays, 6:30-10 pm at Holy Family School (9622 20th Ave SW).

Round 1 – Each candidate draws a Delridge Priority from a special hat and allotted five minutes to address the priority.

Round 2 – Each candidate will present on the Delridge Priority of their choice. Two minutes allotted.

Round 3 – (time permitting) – Freestyle! Candidates will share (what) they would like. One or more minutes allotted, depending on time available.

CITY COUNCIL COMMITTEE TALKS LOW-RISE ZONING: Followup to the public hearing two weeks ago (previewed here) – 2 pm at City Hall, the council’s Planning, Land Use, and Sustainability Committee talks again about the proposed changes to low-rise zoning (the areas where you primarily see 3- or 4-story apartment buildings, rowhouses, townhouses). West Seattle-residing City Councilmember Tom Rasmussen has proposed 8 of the 9 pending amendments; if you can’t get downtown, you can watch via Seattle Channel.

FARMERS’ MARKET MOVE: Today is the first day for the West Seattle Farmers’ Market to set up in its new permanent home, California Avenue SW between Oregon and Alaska. Hours are the same, 10 am-2 pm; each Sunday, that block will be off-limits to vehicles 7 am until approximately 4 pm. Check out this WSB update to find out about some of the new vendors.
