(SDOT MAP with travel times/ Is the ‘low bridge’ closed? LOOK HERE/ West Seattle-relevant traffic cams HERE)
6:28 AM: Big early backup because of a crash in the NB Battery Street Tunnel. One lane has reopened but one remains closed. Also, NB I-5 downtown has had some trouble, most recently a crash stalled vehicle at Seneca.
STADIUM ZONE TONIGHT: 5:20 pm kickoff for Seahawks vs. Green Bay at CenturyLink Field.
6:33 AM: Both BST lanes are now open, says SDOT, because: “Collision has been relocated north of the tunnel at Thomas St blocking the right northbound lane.”
6:46 AM: Per scanner, police are checking out a crash on 35th by the stadium (south of Avalon).
6:49 AM: That crash is not blocking and no one requires medical attention. Meantime, the NB 99 “relocated” crash has cleared, and so has the NB I-5 stall.
8:50 AM: Stalled truck on EB bridge past Fauntleroy entrance.
(SDOT MAP with travel times/ Is the ‘low bridge’ closed? LOOK HERE/ West Seattle-relevant traffic cams HERE)
7:03 AM: Two incidents as we begin:
–SOOT reports a crash at Delridge/Andover
–Kersti reports a crash on southbound California just south of Fauntleroy, with the sidewalk newspaper boxes hit and strewn across the sidewalk
No SFD dispatch for either one thus far, so apparently no injuries of note.
7:27 AM – ADVANCE ALERTS: Reminder of the SB Highway 99 closure this weekend – late Friday night through early Monday. And tomorrow (Thursday), the Seahawks play Green Bay at 5:30 pm at CLink.
8:30 AM: The NB 1st Avenue South Bridge has a new crash blocking two lanes.
8:47 AM: One of those involved, in comments, reports and requests:
5 car accident on the (NB) 1st Ave Bridge. My car was hit. I’ve made sure we moved to the left lane. If it’s possible for everyone to not yell, honk, and tell me I’m a horrible person for blocking their commute, that would be awesome. I didn’t want my car hit this morning and to be inconvenienced either.
8:49 AM: And if you are bridge-bound on Admiral Way, just heard police dispatched to an incident there.
9 AM: 1st Avenue South Bridge scene is clear.
9:38 AM: Two reports from the eastbound West Seattle Bridge – one from a reader who reports a crash near the curve before Nucor, another via scanner reporting a crash by the 99 exit.
Just in from SDOT:

Early alert that southbound Highway 99 is scheduled for closure next weekend (late Friday, November 16, through early Monday, November 19th), between the (updated) south end of the Battery Street Tunnel and the West Seattle Bridge. This is described as a closure “for joint and spall repairs.” It’s weather-dependent, so rain will postpone it.

7:14 AM: Good morning! No incidents or transit alerts in/from West Seattle so far.
HOLIDAY WEEKEND: Monday (November 12th) is the observed Veterans Day, so there will be changes including no Water Taxi, reduced-weekday Metro, and no school.
5:17 PM: Since multiple factors might affect your homeward drive/ride, we’re on pm traffic/transit watch. So far: The protest march isn’t a march yet – it’s gathering first at Cal Anderson Park on Capitol Hill. (CapitolHillSeattle.com is tracking it on Twitter.) When protesters do march, the route is expected to be west on Pine to 2nd, then southbound to the Federal Building. Some buses are rerouting, per Metro.
Meantime, as mentioned in this morning’s traffic/transit watch, the stadium zone will be busy tonight with the Sounders’ 7:30 pm playoff match vs. Portland.
And not related to either, but a crash in the West Marginal Way S/Holden area – by the South Transfer Station – is causing trouble between West Seattle and South Park.
5:50 PM: The march from Capitol Hill to downtown started a few minutes ago, CHS’s Justin Carder reports.

7:37 AM: Now there’s a dispatch for a non-injury crash midspan on the eastbound West Seattle Bridge. (added) Though it was reported via scanner as non-injury, SFD is being dispatched.

Thanks for the tips. Southbound Delridge is blocked at Thistle because of a crash. A pickup truck hit a parked vehicle. Northbound traffic is getting by. Police are talking with the driver and awaiting a tow truck so it should clear up before too long. No report of injuries – SFD was not dispatched.

12:24 AM: Five houses were originally on the site that will be redeveloped into a ~40-condominium project by Vibrant Cities (formerly SolTerra, which originally planned an apartment project). One was moved off the site last January; another is being moved right now; the remaining three will be demolished. We’re here to cover the move, with the renowned house rescuers of Nickel Bros set to pull this house off 1254 Alki and truck it almost half a mile southeast to a barge at Don Armeni Boat Ramp, as was done with the 1262 Alki house nine months ago. Its new owner says it’s headed for Anderson Island.
The crews prepped the site days earlier but just rolled out of Don Armeni after midnight to start setting up for the move.
12:57 AM: The house’s new owner says it’s one of two that he’s buying and moving via Nickel Bros. The other one, taken from a site in Poulsbo, is already on the barge, which he says is scheduled to dock on the island Tuesday. Also here, Vibrant Cities’ co-owners James Wong – who has West Seattle roots – and Ming Fung. They tell us the condo project will likely start construction early next year and will be called Infinity.
1:59 AM: The move is expected to start shortly. Alki Ave will be blocked for a while east of here.
2:30 AM: The house is off the lot and headed down the street, with the help of not only the Nickel Bros crews but also pilot vehicles. We’re headed back to HQ and will add video and a few more photos from there.
3:59 AM: Here are two angles of video as the house left the site:
Local videographer Mark Jaroslaw, who has been recording the operation, reports that it hit a temporary snag: “The house slowly rounded the corner onto Harbor Ave, but was forced to halt in the 1200 block because someone failed to anticipate a low-hanging utility line. The crew tried lowering the load to no avail. So, they improvised. They laid a path of plywood sheets across the park grass, allowing the truck to detour off the street into the Armeni lot. The house was secured at 3:30.” We’ll be checking its status in daylight.
12:24 PM: Thanks to Mark for sharing his video including the house being loaded onto the barge, followed by the sailaway:
Anderson Island, the house’s destination, is Puget Sound’s southernmost island.

7:30 AM: Good morning! No incidents of note reported in or from West Seattle right now.
WEEKEND NOTES: Sunday is the last day of the West Seattle Water Taxi‘s 7-day-a-week/all-day schedule until spring – as of Monday (October 29th) it goes to 5 days a week, commute times only … Also Sunday, the West Seattle Junction Harvest Festival will close California to motorized traffic between Oregon and Edmunds – as well as Alaska between 44th and 42nd, 10 am-2 pm. See the transit alerts here.
5:41 PM: Thanks for the tips. If you have to head westbound on the high bridge soon, we’d advise waiting a while – a crash near the Admiral exit is blocking two lanes.
5:48 PM: Update from SDOT:
UPDATE: The collision on the West Seattle Bridge at Admiral Way has the eastbound left lane blocked and the westbound left lane blocked. Use caution and expect delays. pic.twitter.com/L5y60icEOw
