Empty again

Alki-based Metroblogging Seattle contributor C Ro posts today that the Casa Feliz Mexican restaurant at the beach appears to have folded. That space has had so much turnover, we can barely remember what was there before — wasn’t there a Cuban restaurant in the space for a while, or was that upstairs?

Yeah, it was the Cuban place.

Casa Feliz was okay, but the two or three times I went there, they didn’t have items on their menu available… it was almost like they had menus from another Mexican restaurant that had folded that they were using for convenience…

Before the Cuban place was the Teriyaki place. Really good food and inexpensive, run by an Asian family. They were there for a long time. I miss them alot because I’d get takeout at least once a week, sometimes more often.

Ahhh, but upstairs (pre-Thai) used to be the Beach House, the best down-home Italian restaurant in Seattle, complete with plastic patio furniture. We keep hoping chef/owner Mike Vujovich will return and open a new place.

I’m not surprised they folded. The service was poor the one time I went and the food only fair. For more info look up my review on Judy’s Book.

Mark – Well, Judy’s Book does not list the Beach House as one of its 22 Italian restaurants, and searching for it turns up 48 pages of hits – too many to wade through, so I did not read your review, sorry.
Yes, the Beach House could be a bit erratic. It was about the food, not the service or ambience. The pasta and seafood dishes were real. Chef/owner Mike V worked for a dozen years in restaurants in Italy, and we could tell he knew his stuff. Sorry you had a bad experience your first time and did not give it a second chance.
The place closed, as I understand it, because the Mike V had to go back to (the former) Yugoslavia for personal reasons, not for lack of business. We were among the “regulars” referred to in this

. The Weekly also had a good handle on the place.

I too miss the Cherry Blossem. The food was very good. I can’t help but wonder why the Chinese people running Casa Feliz didn’t just make Chinese food, instead of making bad Mexican food?
Alki could use a good Chinese restaurant.

I love the food at the Thai place, Pura Siam, that is where the Beach House used to be. Very authentic Thai.
A local reported he saw some of the Charleston people down measuring things at the empty space next to Cactus.
Hmmmm! Any comments on that one, people?

Sorry, comment time is over.
