Heh – I’ve lived in the Arbor Heights area south of this place for 13 years and I’ve gone to businesses in that little mall maybe a total of 5 times. Once to the dry cleaners and a few times to the various restaurants that were in spot that turned in to Payday Loans. I can’t believe it’s gonna go for 1.5 million.
Another little restaurant would be nice.

Maybe whoever buys it, will tear it down and build (no, not a condo/apt, or 52 townhouses) an Arctic Circle Burger joint! :P

    .

    (Long timers should get that!)

If i had 1.5 mil lying around, i’d buy it just to evict the payday loan place. That, my friends, is justice.

The only problem is that like weeds, they pop up elsewhere.

I remember when that place was an Arctic Circle

i was wondering if that was where the Arctic Circle used to be. clearly i am not the only person missing my precious, precious fry sauce.

It’s about time. But I sorta like the A-pizza mart.
    Friendly folks there.
That’d be a PERFECT spot for a TRADER JOES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Trader Joe’s apparently has some very specific parking requirements in addition to space requirements – don’t think that spot has enough parking unless there are secret spots out back or something!

There isn’t enough room to put a TJ’s on the lot. However – kitty corner from there is the Freedom Church – which used to be a Safeway. That would have been a cool place to have Trader Joe’s!

That place is kinda skeezy. I go to the cleaners there once and a while, but the PayDay Loans definitely isn’t doing anything for neighborhood feel.

Artic Circle…oh man…that brings back memories. Now I want some fry sauce.

We also live in Arbor Heights. I’ve often commented to my wife how underutilized that corner locaiton is. For a while, there was a “revolving door” of restaurants in there. I kept hoping one of them would succeed. Was so sad to see it turn into a Payday Loan place (struck me as the neighborhood going backwards….).

For me, the best case would be a buyer coming in and fixing up that corner — similar to the positive changes in the Endolyne corner area. Not so long ago, before Endolyne Joes, that space was a (sort of) convenience store with broken front windows. Hope this area goes through the same improvements as Endolyne commercial area….

Rumor has it that Trader Joes once was interested in the Safeway lot (Freedom Church) but it fell through.
The corner lot we’re speaking of does need an “Anchor” there, but like FlipJack said, the A-Pizza mart folks are super nice, the elderly man at the dry cleaners I like to support, but the PayDay loan? ughhhhh.

The conversation usually goes like this:

    A-Pizza Mart: Hello ApizzamartmayIhelpyou?
Me: I need Pizza! (this is usally at about 9pm or so)
A-Pizza Mart: Oh Hello, what would you like, the usual?

I lost my Chinese restaurant (the old Hunan Spring Buffet in White Center – great takeout) last year and I’ve never found a place with the same Chicken Chow Mei Fun that my wife likes. Now to lose the other place where they just know my voice on the phone and get to work would really suck.

I really liked the cheesesteak place that was there breifly… we need more cheesesteak in west seattle, don’t make me drive all they way to philadelphia fevre on madison in the central district!!

I live within eye shot of this place and would love to see something tasteful and useful going on at the corner. I was also disappointed to see the Payday Loan shop move it, and had dreams of its’ demise. This gives me hope. A great new restaurant, Trader Joes, anything to add some much needed spice to the neighborhood.

On a different note, I have seen on many occasions really sketchy activity at that bus stop. Calling the cops has done nothing – maybe a thriving business center will.

Sorry, comment time is over.
