Is Ercolini an off-leash dog park? I saw a woman there last weekend with her large dog running around unleashed? Hate to think that that small park is going to have the dog problem. (I’m a dog lover and owner).

  • WSB May 30, 2008 (9:41 pm)

Nope, only off-leash area in West Seattle is at Westcrest Park.

As a HUGE Ercolini Park supporter/lover it is up to all of us to self-police all aspects of the park (including dogs off leash).

It has really made my heart full to see all the kids and parents playing at the park since the fences came down.

Lets continue to make this a neighborhood point of pride!

MN Girl..if you see her again…or others…be sure to tell them. This is a place where children play…having their dogs off leash just isn’t smart…or caring. And if they don’t clean up after their dogs, it’s unhealthy, too…

Isn’t it true that even dogs ON leash aren’t supposed to be at the parks?

  • cmc June 1, 2008 (5:58 pm)

Oops, let me clarify — I don’t mean that ON leash dogs aren’t allowed at all parks but aren’t ON leash dogs meant to be kept out of playground areas??….ie., there is a sign at Whale Tail park that dogs are prohibited. Also, the playground over at the foot of Kerry Park in Queen Anne has the same sort of sign.

Thanks. I didn’t think it was an off-leash type of park. And now I have a question….about two weeks ago I was driving up Genesee and saw a person “exercising” a pony in the fenced field east of Pathfinder school… does anyone know what that was about? I see dogs there (ahem) all the time but this was definitely a pony..maybe they were having a party or something.

  • WSB June 1, 2008 (8:32 pm)

If it was a very small pony, it’s a known resident of north West Seattle. Shown here with the mayor:

  • big gulps,eh? well, see ya later. June 2, 2008 (11:20 am)

The pony is named Jeb. He rules. Now that goats are legal in the city I hope to get a small team together to join in on the fun… stay tuned.

That’s the pony. Thanks for the info. Now I at least know I wasn’t hallucinating.

Sorry, comment time is over.
