West Seattle Crime Watch: Purse-snatching attempt, and more

Received a note overnight via Facebook from Debbie, who says:

I was nearly mugged on the corner of Hudson and California [map] at 9:45 pm! Someone tried to grab my purse off my shoulder while my friends and I were walking by; they unfortunately misjudged my ferocity and failed.

Meantime – we also have two West Seattle Crime Watch alerts that came in this week but hadn’t been included in a roundup yet – a “walk-in break-in” and a car prowl – (added 9:20 am, also a third – another car break-in report that just came in) read on:

First, this resident didn’t want to be identified:

I live at 41st and Charlestown [map]. At 4 pm Saturday after working in the front yard, we went to back of house via our alley with mower and tools. I was at the back of the house for maybe 20- 30 minutes. Front door was open with screen door closed. When returning to bedroom which is close to front door I noticed that various jewelry was missing off dresser and nightstand. Someone obviously walked in front door, quickly went to bedrooms and took gold , and silver rings etc. Nothing else was taken, not even cash.

Second, from Deana:

On Saturday night Sept 27th, we had an attempted car break-in on our Ford F150 on the 48 hundred block of 48th Ave SW between Edmunds and Hudson streets [map]. Luckily the thieves were unsuccessful. However, they did damage the driver’s side lock.

Now, the 9:20 am addition, from Jon via Facebook:

My car was broken into near 40th Ave SW and SW Graham St. [map] Items stolen included a GPS unit, hiking boots, trekking poles, and several car chargers (all of which were hidden from view…).

He says it happened last night.

Way to fight back Debbie! Glad you weren’t hurt in doing so!

Any details on the purse-snatcher? Or should I just be suspicious of everyone equally now?

This happened to my brother’s friend’s mom just last week (I think). It was up between 35th and 29th, somewhere around the “cow store” I believe. She was walking home from the bus stop and was punched in the head and her purse was taken! LOSER! Then, to top it off she got in a car accident the next day and ended up in the hospital…talk about a crappy 24 hours :( I pity the fool who tries to mug me…better knock me out or they will be quite sorry they picked this poor defenseless chick! When I’m alone I like to walk with a key in between my knuckles, ready to poke an eye out. You aren’t safe anywhere unfortunately.

What did the person who grabbed the purse look like? We need descriptions here people. I’m always on the lookout for the unsuspecting criminal that wants a busted face.

Sorry, comment time is over.
