West Seattle Crime Watch: Contractor chases burglars away

John is reporting a break-in attempt, on behalf of a neighbor without e-mail – read on:

There was an attempt to burglarize (a home in 7700 block of 14th Ave SW) today at about 11:00 am. The owner was sleeping in the basement, but he had a contractor working on his home that witnessed and stopped the attempt. They apparently came on the property off the alley. There were 2 males carrying off some of his things. They then ran off going north. He had also been burglarized about 3 weeks ago when someone stole camera equipment and a bicycle. These guys are really brave (or stupid), because there were contractors reroofing across the street (4 men) and another contractor (4 men) installing a gas line 2 doors to the south.

9/29 Admiral Area, 4000 block of Admiral Way. 2 Males, wearing white shirts, One with a tie, the other no tie. Have subscription like books in both back pockets, walking up to houses while the other is in the back coming thru unlocked gates. These guys are aggressive.., one neighbor had called 911 as one of the males was yelling at him. 3 Neighbors reported one of the males in their backyard thru their gates. Police were called but never did see them in the area. Same tactic reported in the Westwood Village area.

Also saw 2 late teens-early twenties on Sunset Ave. in the Admiral neighborhood last sunday doing the magazine selling trick. The got into a gold colored late 90’s model minivan, likely a dodge or chrysler. Did not get the plates because I did not know it was something out of the ordinary.
One day later 7/20, Monday , a neighbor two houses down on Sunset Ave. found a window screen had been cut but intruders could not open the window. He has 2 small children, a wife, and mother living with him.
Intruders beware. I will be lurking in the darkness, waiting for you to try and get in. Please know that your heads are fair game once you enter my home.

I’m right there with you,I will fight you burglars.Just remember to finish the job and get your carpets replaced.A dead intruder/assailant can’t perjure himself in court or plead not guilty.There is a time,like Arjuna facing his enemies,when we must utilize our more primitive instincts.

I saw these two guys – wearing white polo shirts/dark pants -about a month ago by 106th and 21st SW on a sunny week day. Struck me immediately as odd – what do you go door-to-door to sell these days – especially with no “official” vehicle nearby. And, a friend was in his yard kitty corner from the houses they approached, and they never contacted him about whatever they were “selling.” I immediately thought they were scoping neighborhoods to see who was home and who wasn’t on a weekday late morning. Grrrrrr.

We had a young black man come to our house this afternoon who matches the desciption. Long slevved white shirt, baggy dress pant and high top athletic shoes unlaced.

My husband could not understand what the guy was saying. Something in regards to disadvantaged youth and something about good folks like us and our neighbors. My husband cut him off. This was about an hour ago. I think they were casing the neighborhood.

Make door to door solicitation illegal!

I saw these two guys too! They were in my apartment community and I told them to leave. The one kid got really snippy with me, so I called the cops. He tried to tell me that he was sellings magazines to win a trip so he had to knock on everyone’s door.

I don’t think there were two guys but the same young man that visited “sawthem2’s” on July 30 was at my door just about an 1 1/2 ago on 37th Ave SW 5400 block.
