As in, screams from drivers fed up with bumpy Sylvan Way/Orchard between Delridge & High Point. We just noticed this addition to the warning sign along the westbound lane:

That’s actually been there for at least month or two. I burst out laughing every time I see it – like I forgot it was there since last time. Having moved from Delridge to near the Alaska Junction, I certainly don’t miss driving that road on a regular basis!

It seems to me that they’re just waiting for all of the construction to end on that stretch of road. It makes no sense to pave it until then. Paranthetically, you SUV drivers certainly have a lot of excuses as to why you need to drive those ridiculous, gas guzzling, space hogging, road-view blocking vehicles. I grin widely whenever I see another one of you pulling into the gas station for a triple digit fill-up.

I too drive this route virtually every day and it never fails to make me laugh. I think it’s due to the fact that I *do* agree with the sentiment and it’s as if I painted it there telekinetically. In its unaltered state the sign is sooooo prosaic, “BUMP.” In its vandalized state it’s transcendent wish fulfillment. Not to mention the fact that when it got buggered up to begin with, by the construction and rains and poor drainage, they closed it for months of repair only to reopen it in its current craptastic state. It is not *a* bump! It is a series of 5 bumps, each worse the the one that preceded it.

FIX BUMP indeed.

Two memories, both from many years ago, come to mind seeing that pic.

First, back when SR 520 was being expanded east bound beyond 148th, they had cut through 148th, leaving a wide gap that was later filled in by making that section of 148th into an overpass.

There was a barricade, blocking the gap, with a sign stating “Bridge Out”, to which someone added, “Jump!”

The second one was here in W.S. along southbound Fauntleroy near Fairmont Elementary, where the “sign” painted on the pavement stating “SCHOOL” had partially worn off from traffic, essentially eliminating the “S” and the “L”.

Some clever person spray painted the letter “A” in front of the remaining letters, which turned the word into “ACHOO”

I’m checking in and am glad to see a picture posted of this sign. I, too, chuckled at this sign. I, too, had to grab a dictionary to see what “Paranthetically” meant.
