Goodbye, Hollywood

On the east edge of The Junction, developers of the mixed-use project with the QFC didn’t waste much time after booting Hollywood Video. A reader e-mailed us late yesterday that demolition work was racing ahead. What you see behind the backhoe is actually a house behind the ex-store – by late last night, it was just a shell:

WOW! They do work fast, I just went to Safeway Monday night and didn’t see any work being done. Humm, wonder what happened to my membership?…

I thought this project was going to be a Whole Foods? Or is there going to be a QFC and a Whole Foods within a block or two of one another (and an existing Safeway)

Amanda, you will no doubt get a letter in the mail in about 2 years saying you have over due DVD’s .. this happened to me a long time ago with Tower Records, years after I had cancelled my membership. Good times. And yes they do work fast huh!? Look for more traffic problems related to the megablight going in rightcheer. Happy Day :)

Whole Foods is supposedly going into Fauntleroy Place, which is the Schuck’s/Hancock property to the south of the Bowling Alley. Still in Design Review phase, probably a while before the wrecking ball hits.

Will be interesting to see how the “West Seattle Grocery Store War” plays out.

A QFC……funny. Well I suppose all those future Condo dwelling traffic plugger uppers gotta eat too.
What an urban oasis we will have!

WTF? QFC??? There’s one in Westwood Village! We don’t need no steenkin’ QFC. Bring on TRADER JOES!!!

  • Chet Desmond March 21, 2007 (12:48 pm)

Amen Bill and I think QFC and their advantage card BS blows anyway…

If they put a T.J.s in West Seattle it will be a compete nuthouse.
I will keep driving out to Burien, thank you.
In L.A. we lived 4 blocks from the Silverlake T.J.s, you couldnt even get in the door on a Sat. morning. So we ended up driving over to Glendale and there was about 5 people shopping every time.

    My 2 cents,
    Todd :)

Just wondering what happened to my post here? No porn darn!! Someone mentioned, and I can’t find it how expensive Whole Foods is (and they are very yikes!!) But I just wanted to point out that Safeway in the Junction is already downright expensive. They have an incredible markup on their merchandise. I can get the same item at the dollar store in White Center for well, 1 dollar.

Here’s an idea…when this QFC opens, close the Jefferson Square Safeway (my apologies to Safeway, but we’d still have the Admiral store as an option) and put Petco there instead!

  • Chet March 23, 2007 (8:40 am)

    great idea

Sorry, comment time is over.
