New scoop on what’s going into the ex-flower shop

Just got details on the restaurant in the works for the ex-Neilsen Flowers space at the north edge of The Junction. Its proprietor says it’s been a long slog to get some necessary city approvals (note permit just issued, six months after application!), but they’re finally making progress. It’ll be a 21-and-up restaurant and bar, called “Shadowland” (a change from the original plan, and a reference to a biography of West Seattle’s troubled movie legend Frances Farmer). They’re hoping to be open by summer.

Hooray! Thanks for the update…I’ve been wondering what’s up with that space. I was getting worried nothing would come of it. Sounds like a place that’s much needed in WS!

Well, I was hoping for more condos or an apartment building. So disappointed! Seriously though, sounds like a cool idea. Sad to see a business that has been around for so long go under though. I think it had been there since the early 1950’s.

The original flower shop owners sold the business at the time they sold the building. One of the employees of the original flower shop bought the business, and then sold it to the last people that ran the shop.

The owners of the building hope that the wine bar will do better than the last incarnation of the flower shop.
