Elliott Bay Water Taxi’s future: Public meeting set

Less than 2 weeks after the Water Taxi ended its season, we’ve received word of another upcoming chance for you to have a say on its future: 7 pm Thursday, January 15th, is the time/date just set for a city/county-led public meeting at Alki Community Center, regarding both the WT’s anticipated move to year-round service in January 2010, and plans to improve the WT dock at Seacrest. Separately, the King County Ferry District comes up for $ reauthorization later this month and the county’s still taking your comments on what the Water Taxi means to you – dozens have come in, hundreds would be better: info@kingcountyferries.org

Please take a couple minutes to email the ferry district. This can be a vialbe transportation alternative for W seattle.

Would the folks with foresight and vision please step to the front and support the cutest ferry on the Sound with an email? Takes three minutes. The future will be better for it.

Also, the Ferry District would eventually allow for expansion of ferries up and down the waterways. Sound smart? I think it is. So, let’s get ‘er done – write!

FISHING? I hear no mention of how the Seacrest FISHING Pier will be impacted by these changes. The Pier was originally built for fishing and has always served as a means for fisherman without a boat to catch fish. As it stands, there are indeed two structures. Fishing and Ferry. I HOPE the future plan is NOT to ask for this pier and corresponding area to be designated a WA Ferry site, eventually incorporated into the WA ferry system. This would mean fishing eliminated as no fishing is allowed near WA ferry terminals due to liability concerns. Parking is major issue, especially during Summer.

Sorry, comment time is over.
