The vote with $5,000 at stake for West Seattle: Final hours

The folks running the “Cox Conserves Heroes” competition say voting ends at 8 o’clock this morning our time – so this is the last chance to get out the vote for Fauntleroy’s Judy Pickens, who’s being honored in the contest (along with four other regional conservation volunteers) for her work at and for Fauntleroy Creek. Note that the results page was misbehaving for much of last night, so don’t assume anything – just vote if you haven’t already. What’s at stake: The winner gets $5,000 to donate to her/his chosen nonprofit – and Judy has chosen the restoration heroes of EarthCorps.

Thank you all for voting — at this point (8:15 am) the website shows Judy with 48% of the vote! But the tallying was buggy last night — so do look forward to hearing the results from Cox on the 20th.

Regardless of the final numbers — Judy is certainly a winner in West Seattle’s eyes.

    Hear hear!
And another reminder of an upcoming event at which anyone and everyone can come help Judy and others support Fauntleroy Creek … drumming the salmon home, 5 pm Sunday 10/26, BYOD. Creek overlook across from the Fauntleroy ferry dock. It’s a nice little walk downhill from Lincoln Park if you have to drive from outside Fauntleroy (there is limited street parking in the neighborhoods) – TR

I found this on the Cox site where the voting took place. It says THE WINNER will be revealed tomorrow. (don’t know what time)

“Voting Is Over. Thanks for your vote. The winning hero will be announced October 16th on KIRO-7.”

I just got a note to that effect from the person at Cox who was looking into the results problem (as you probably know, until this morning, that same page said “winner will be announced Oct. 20th”). Will find out exactly when, no doubt it will be during one of the evening newscasts, I’d gamble on 5 or 6 – TR

Sorry, comment time is over.
