Members of Kiwanis West Seattle are selling tickets for the 67th annual West Seattle Community Pancake Breakfast, scheduled for Saturday, December 7th at the Alki Masonic Building, located at 4736 40th Ave. S.W. The pancakes will be hot off the griddle from 7 am and 11 am accompanied by orange juice, coffee and Husky Deli’s premier ham. As always, the proceeds go toward funding the club’s community service activities, especially those focused on children and teens.

This year’s breakfast has a special emphasis. Proceeds will help fund the Kiwanis sponsored Key Clubs at West Seattle, Seattle Lutheran and Chief Sealth High Schools. Over the last few years, membership in our sponsored Key Clubs has exploded and we now mentor over 250 local high school students in the Key Club Program. Key Club educates students on the importance of serving others, as well as teaching valuable leadership skills.

The breakfast will also provide an opportunity for patrons to donate new, unwrapped “Toys for Tots.” Marine reservists will be on hand to accept the toys. Children to 10, accompanied by an adult, will be offered a free photo with Santa. Besides pancakes, you will find a variety of gifts for sale including charming handmade ornaments, wreaths, Cookie Lee jewelry, plus many other holiday gifts.

Adult ticket donations are $8 before December 7th ($10 at the door) and kids under 10 eat free. Mail orders may be sent to PO Box 16128, Seattle, WA 98116. Phone inquiries will be received at 206-920-3900, or stop by the Kiwanis tent at the West Seattle Farmers Market each Sunday. Kiwanis members will be collecting new unwrapped “Toys for Tots” at the next two Farmers Markets in West Seattle, for those who can’t make the pancake breakfast but still would like to contribute.
