Musicians of West Seattle Community Orchestras will present a chamber recital Tuesday, June 16, 7:00 pm, in the Chapel at Providence Mount Saint Vincent.

The public is invited and it’s totally free!

The program, the first of its kind for WSCO, will include two brass soloists, Toni Reineke, on baritone horn, playing long-time favorites, and Steve Twitchell, tuba, playing Suite for—you guessed it—Tuba!

A very special part of the performance will be students in WSCO’s beginning strings for adults, coached by Kelly Moore. They’ll play a selection of traditional tunes. (Note that though this is called a “beginning” class, their sound is far more advanced!)

Ending the program will be WSCO’s Brass Sextet, playing a selection of Broadway hits.

About WSCO:

The West Seattle Community Orchestras (WSCO) was founded in 2003 as a community outlet for local musicians all of ages to engage in music-making through this unique intergenerational group of three orchestras. The Debut Orchestra is for beginning players; the Intermediate Orchestra, and Symphony, for community members and more experienced students. In total 190 musicians take part in the making of music, 100 of them from third grade through high school. Each week, professional coaching is provided for string students by Seattle Youth Symphony Orchestra (SYSO) through a generous grant from the Seattle Office of Arts and Cultural Affairs.
