When Jewish-American songwriter/producer Michael Hunter Ochs traveled through the Middle East asking if music is truly a universal language, he didn’t imagine that he and his improbable friend, Palestinian-Muslim songwriter/commentator Alaa Alshaham would end up performing at the United Nations.

Join Alshaham and Ochs in The Pursuit of Harmony, an evening of song and conversation as they share their personal stories and music in English, Hebrew and Arabic on Saturday, November 21 at 7:30 pm at Kol HaNeshamah in West Seattle.

“We are honored and thrilled to host these two compelling musicians and peacemakers,” KHN Rabbi Zari Weiss says. “If you want an evening of inspiration, learning, joy, and hope, this concert is for you.”

Ochs and Alshaham ask: Can music turn enemies into friends? Can collaboration allow us to experience one another’s humanity and build a bridge to peace?

Michael Hunter Ochs’ versatile and award winning music includes pop, gospel, Jewish worship music, and soundtracks for television and numerous major motion pictures. Alaa Alshaham was awarded the Children of the Earth Award for his work with a 400 member Palestinian Children’s Choir, singing for peace in a conflict zone.

Suggested donations are $25, $13 for KHN members, and $5 for students.

Space is limited and reservations are recommended. Contact Kol HaNeshamah, West Seattle’s Progressive Synagogue Community, info@khnseattle.org for more information or to talk about larger group seating.
