Southwest Seattle Super String Saturday at Chief Sealth International High School, is a free community event.

Seattle Youth Symphony Orchestras (SYSO) presents this annual celebration of its public school partnership program, the Southwest Seattle String Project. Violin, viola, cello and bass students from Roxhill, Arbor Heights, Sanislo, Concord, Highland Park, and West Seattle Elementary Schools as well as Denny International Middle School have been receiving support by professional musicians from SYSO throughout the year. At this free event, the students will all come together to hear a mini-concert performed by Seattle Youth Symphony, one of America’s top youth orchestras, and then go on to engage in interactive learning sessions led by the Youth Symphony musicians.

The string students will also have the chance to perform “side-by-side” with the Youth Symphony, giving many of these beginning musicians a chance to experience being part of a full orchestra.

Seattle City Councilmember Tom Rasmussen and Office of Arts and Culture Director Randy Engstrom will be on hand to welcome families and meet the young musicians. The event is for the Southwest string music students and their families, as well as community members interested in attending the free mini-concert by SYSO.
