On February 11th from 9 am – 8 pm, South Seattle College (WSB sponsor) will host a free F.A.F.S.A. (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) workshop for students and community members interested in learning more about how to pay for college.

The event is part of a statewide initiative administered by the Washington Student Achievement council called “College Goal in Washington,” that is designed to increase low income, first generation, and underrepresented students’ completion of the F.A.F.S.A. Financial aid experts from South will be onsite to work individually with students and families and answer questions about how to pay for college and how to access financial aid successfully. Students who are ineligible for the F.A.F.S.A. due to citizenship status may be eligible to file the Washington Application for State Financial Aid (W.A.S.F.A.) to help them access other financial resources that will help them pay for college.

Last year, Washington State was first among all 34 College Goal Sunday states, serving 2,421 potential F.A.F.S.A. filers. This is South Seattle College’s first year participating in this campaign. In addition to receiving help with their F.A.F.S.A. forms, representatives from Student Outreach will also be on-hand to offer guided tours of South’s campus.

For more information about the event, please contact Lyanne O’Connell, Financial Literacy Specialist, at 206.934.5220, or by email at: Lyanne.oconnell@seattlecolleges.edu.
