As reported on WSB on October 21st, Sound Transit wants to shorten Express Route 560 so its West Seattle starting/ending point is Westwood Village, instead of The Junction. But it will run to Westwood all day, instead of just running to West Seattle in peak hours (you can see the gap in the current schedule). Tonight there’s an open house planned aboard an ST bus to be parked on the south side of WV, 5-7 pm, for comments and questions.

  1. Why is this open house being held in the part of West Seattle that will NOT be affected by the route shortening?
I’ve lived near the junction for 4 years and this bus route has been my go-to method for getting to and from the airport.
    I’m very disappointed.

  2. What a mess Westwood is with all the buses!!! Isn’t there a park an ride on Olsen Way that we all paid money for? The first time a kid or adult leaves the park and walks between the buses and gets injuried or killed will be a shame. If there’s streetlights there they are blocked by the buses any it’s very dark there and most people are looking at the shopping center not looking for ped’s.

  3. Thank you for printing an unbiased version of the proposal on this blurb, and for continued coverage of the daily transit commutes.

I support the proposal in hopes that the 560 can become more productive with all-day connection to West Seattle’s three bus spines. The taxpayers need to see more value out of this route.

I’d love to see the 120 extended to the airport one day, and have its frequency increased, but that is out of Sound Transit’s court.

  4. I think it was good process that an open house was held at Westwood. That neighborhood will have to deal with any increased (pedestrian/rider) traffic. I hope they welcome it.

The 560 does not currently serve Westwood. Promoting its future arrival in Westwood makes good business sense.
