Adults who loved or hated their high school proms have an opportunity to re-do them at Second Chance Prom on Saturday, April 15th, at 7 pm at the West Seattle Golf Club. The event benefits The Ruby Room, an organization that collects donated dresses and accessories for girls who otherwise can’t afford them to be able to attend their own prom.

Throughout the year, the Ruby Room collects donated dresses, jewelry and shoes to give to high school girls shopping for “prom season” in the spring. This organization provides its clients with a personal shopper to make sure their shopping experience is fun and successful. Founder Nyla Bitterman believes “everyone should be able attend their high school events, regardless of their ability to pay.” She has expressed this through the Ruby Room since its beginning in 2002.

Open to those 21 years and older, guests will travel “Back to the 90’s” through the music and bright décor. A raffle to win the crown of prom king or queen is held as one way to benefit the Ruby Room. The winners will receive a sash, crown and trophy. A DJ will be spinning throwback 90’s jams and will be taking requests. Photographers will have a booth to capture that fun prom pose to remember the night.

The Ruby Room will accept donations of dresses and accessories in good condition at the event. Tickets are $30 per person or $50 per couple, which will go to the Ruby Room to help pay for rent, utility costs and extra inventory as needed.
