West Seattle and South Park will elect their first-ever District 1 City Councilmember in 2015, and WSB is presenting an early forum to help ensure there’s plenty of discussion long before the August 4th primary. You’re invited: 6:30 pm mingling, 7 pm forum, at Highland Park Improvement Club. We’re planning some “light refreshments” too.

2/4 UPDATE: Four candidates in the forum:

George Capestany
Amanda Kay Helmick
Chas Redmond
Phillip Tavel

(ORIGINAL INVITATION) Anyone else who publicly commits to candidacy by February 4th will be welcome to participate as well.

Got a question you want to see asked? Please e-mail! editor@westseattleblog.com. We also plan to devote the final half-hour to questions asked by attendees, open-mike, and to collect written questions at HPIC on forum night.

Note that HPIC requests overflow parking focus on spaces off the residential block it shares on 12th just north of Holden – a good place to go, they recommend, is Riverview Playfield, immediately north of that block.

Might be worth mentioning here that proper West Seattle residents have until May 15 to register/run as a District Council candidate. Might be somebody out there who gets inspired by that info. Never can know for sure.
