From West Seattle Highline Physical Therapy:

This class is an introduction to a program that combines the latest medical research about pelvic floor function with the Feldenkrais Method of Somatic Education®. The Feldenkrais Method® has been around for over sixty years and has helped millions of people recover function after illness, injury or trauma, by utilizing your natural ability to learn and become aware of your habits.

The exercises you will learn are supported by research and emphasize the use of the pelvic floor muscles with other muscles in the hips, legs and torso as part of a coordinated system. When you have more awareness of the pelvic floor, your ability to sense what you are doing will also improve. You will be more able to tell if you are contracting or relaxing the pelvic floor. As you are able to discriminate this, you can then progress your ability to use the pelvic floor to suit your need or activity.

GOALS:
*Improve awareness of your pelvic floor
*Learn to use your breathing to relax and balance your nervous system
*Learn tools to improve your awareness of your postural habits

This class is appropriate if you want to improve bladder control, reduce back or pelvic
pain, or get help in recovering from childbirth or abdominal surgery.
