The New Alchemists open their fall season with Lavinia Roberts’ award-winning play, Eaten Voices. The brainchild of New York playwright Lavinia Roberts, Los Angeles composer Ahmed Alabaca, and Seattle director Lily Raabe, Eaten Voices won “Best Play in Festival” at New York’s Thespis Theatre Festival in 2012 for its World Premiere.

Suitable for all ages, Eaten Voices follows the story of Leona, a plucky young woman trapped in night – a place of stories, song, dance, and mystery. As she journeys towards day she meets a variety of mystical characters inspired by myths spanning the globe.

With an original score played live to accompany the ensemble, a multitude of handmade masks, and inventive storytelling, Eaten Voices is a poignant production for the whole family.

The West Coast premiere runs August 22—August 30, 2015.
