Alma y Azucar features an exquisite and passionate selection of Latin and Jazz favorites. The band features Alma Villegas on lead vocals, Fred Hoadley on piano, Ricardo Guity on percussion, Steve Okimoto on bass and Steve Mostovoy on trumpet. Band leader, Alma Villegas started her professional music career in 2001 when she performed with two of Seattle’s most popular Latin salsa music ensembles. Her experiences in these two ensembles reconnected her to her youth in Mexico and led her to create a band that offered a more diverse selection Latin music. Alma’s lustful voice brings you an exquisite and passionate selection of Latin styles focusing on the traditional bolero (Latin ballad) and cha-chas, mid-tempo Latin jazz standards, a variety of Cuban rhythms and bossa novas. When you combine her vocals with her band, it is pure gold!
