START OF 2013 UPDATE WSB starts the new year averaging 1 million pageviews a month and continuing to grow – the first week of 2013 had 20 percent more pageviews, 20 percent more unique visitors, and 20 percent more visits than the first week of 2012!

Late last year, we were honored for the third consecutive year as the most popular neighborhood-news site in KING 5′s “Best of Western Washington,” and Seattle Magazine’s “Best Of 2012″ edition pronounced WSB editor/co-publisher Tracy Record a “Neighborhood Hero” for West Seattle.

Other awards – Tracy was honored in May with the Society of Professional Journalists’ June A. Almquist Award for Distinguished Service to Journalism. That’s also the month during which WSB received the 2012 “Government News Reporting of the Year” award from the Municipal League.

Highlights from 2011 included: In October, WSB won the KING 5 “Best of Western Washington” vote for the second consecutive year. In June, WSB won the citywide Best News Website award in the Seattle Weekly Web Awards, following May’s honors for “Best Online Community Engagement” in the Pacific Northwest Society of Professional Journalists awards.
