JUNCTION BIZNOTES: Thunder Road Guitars; Azuma Sushi; Kizuki Ramen; Dumplings of Fury

Four biznotes this afternoon, all from The Junction:

THUNDER ROAD GUITARS’ NEW HOURS: Proprietor Frank Gross wants you to know that Thunder Road Guitars (4736 California SW; WSB sponsor) has new hours:

Tuesdays-Saturdays 10 am – 6 pm
Sundays – Closed
Mondays – Closed
Online 24/7

By the way, if you didn’t already know, along with the website at thunderroadguitars.com, TRG’s online presence also includes a popular Instagram account, highlighted by “today’s catch.”

AZUMA SUSHI’S VACATION: The recent change to six days a week has worked so well that the hard-working proprietors of Azuma Sushi (4533 California SW) are now planning their “first extended vacation since we opened 16 years ago!” according to signage all around the restaurant. The vacation closure will be Sunday, July 3, through Sunday, July 17, and the restaurant will reopen on Monday, July 18.

KIZUKI RAMEN’S DELAY: We continue to get questions about when this new restaurant at 42nd/Alaska will open. They have a new public update: “Early to mid-July” because of an “unexpected delay.”

DUMPLINGS OF FURY SOON: This much-asked-about restaurant-in-progress (4302 SW Oregon) also has a brand-new public update: “Trying to get the last inspection scheduled now. Training up staff. All good stuff. Can’t nail a date until the inspection is scheduled though. Those guys are busy so we will keep hopes high that happens fast.”

I know this isn’t Junction-related, but I’ve been looking for news on what replaced Feedback Lounge. I remember something about the owner of Peel & Press doing something in that space, but have no idea what it is. It looks like it’s open now but there no signage. Any info?

What’s going on with The Lodge? It was announced before Kizuki, surprised it’s not open by now.

This question has not been answered.  I too want to know when The Lodge is opening.  Way last November, they said March.  Info?

No updates on our side. They have not responded; at one point recently, as mentioned in another thread, I asked the broker who represented/represents the Junction 47 spaces if something had changed and he said they were definitely still in the works, just having some permit delays, which seems to have been fairly common this past year, more so than in previous years.

Does anyone know why the Taco Del Mar sign is gone at Westwood Vlllage? Often times it seems dark there- employees clean/put chairs up 1-2 hours before closing, making it pretty uninviting… Hate to go in there being empty and probably employees don’t want to deal with customers etc.? Seems like something weird going on there. W

Josh – We inquired with TDM about two weeks ago and I finally got a reply yesterday. I haven’t written the story yet because it now requires tracking down more details from the new owners but in short – it’s not Taco Del Mar any more and that’s why the sign is gone. “A similar concept” is how the person from TDM described the new operators, without naming them. Seems to be “Baja Burrito”: http://www.thebajaburrito.com/locations/

OK Harry and Jennifer, first you want Sundays off, and now you are taking a two-week vacation… your first in 16 years??? This is getting out of hand! Your customers may go into withdrawal and need counseling!!

All kidding aside, I hope you have great plans, have a terrific time, and make vacations a much, MUCH more frequent event. You totally deserve it.

Why has WSB not published an update on the new West Seattle Brewing location on Alki? I dunno, either, but here’s the report: It’s open.

Perhaps because, as usual, they have a lot……ummmmm…..on their plates?
