West Seattle lost-and-found files: 1 volleyball net; 1 safe

The usual place to post lost/found on WSB is the Forum – unless it’s a pet, since they have their own page (several reunions already today!) – but two unusual reports have come in, possibly crime-related, so we’re spotlighting them here – a found safe and a missing/stolen volleyball net (whose owner is offering a reward):

First, from Betsy, the safe saga:

On July 4, I found a home security safe abandoned next to a trash can in Greg Davis Park on 26th Ave SW. It was a grey Brinks security safe with a blue lock. I called it in and police picked it up and said they would bring it downtown to enter into evidence. If you are missing a safe, you might want to go check it out. More interesting, I got a call at 6 am from the responding officer to tell me that they served a warrant on my neighbor, they recovered six weapons and took him into custody, so they had figured out who discharged a weapon into my house. I was very happy to tell him he had the wrong gal, but now I’m very curious who had that experience!

If you’re missing a safe, you should be able to inquire with police through the non-emergency number at 206-625-5011. (P.S. We’re on the trail of the incident related to the mistaken call Betsy received, and hope to have an update a bit later.)

From Brian, the case of the missing/stolen volleyball net:

I had a red rental (volleyball) net stolen on Alki Beach, it had black custom lettering that had my website on it sbvclub.com. The people who had rented forgot to call me to take it down when I got off work and went to take the net down the net was stolen. If the net is returned, I will pay $200 to that person. Please do not throw away the net, please return it.

You can reach Brian through the club (or, contact police).

    Re: Found safe. On 6/29 I found a briefcase with papers scattered all around in Greg Davis Park. I was able to track down the owner and return it. I also reported it to the police. I’m sad to see Greg Davis Park become a dumping ground for stolen property :{

Sorry, comment time is over.
