Voted in this historic election yet? Most haven’t; do it by Tuesday

Two weeks after ballots arrived in most local mailboxes, more than 80 percent of them are still waiting to be turned in, according to the newest King County Elections numbers:

That’s the screen grab from the KCE webpage with tonight’s count of ballots received so far (at right, compared to how many were sent out, at left) – we are in City Council District 1, as we hope you know by now, in this history-making year, with the seven newly created districts each electing its first councilmember. That’s not the only contest on your ballot, but it’s the highest-profile one. The decisions you’ll make:

*King County Elections Director (3 candidates)
*Seattle Port Commission Position 2 (3 candidates)
*Seattle Port Commission Position 5 (9 candidates)
*Seattle City Council District 1 (West Seattle/South Park; 9 candidates)
*Seattle City Council Position 8 (citywide; 4 candidates)
*Seattle City Council Position 9 (citywide; 6 candidates)
*Seattle School Board Position 6 (West Seattle/South Park; 3 candidates)

Whomever you support, vote for them and get your ballot in the mail or into a dropbox by Tuesday night – here’s the list of dropboxes (open now) and ballot vans (open Sat. and Mon. 10 am-5 pm, Tues. 10 am-8 pm).

So, how much are USPS stamps these days? Seriously, I cannot remember.

But it is legal for me to vote. ONLY IN AMERICA!

I wouldn’t know without googling. But you can drop off your ballot without postage at the ballot vans Saturday, Monday, Tuesday, West Seattle Stadium or in front of the Greenbridge Library (8th SW south of Roxbury) – all the info (plus 24-hour dropboxes downtown & elsewhere) is linked above.

Thanks again to WSB for the District 1 candidates “Last Look” section. It was obvious that you put a lot of time into meeting with all candidates and presenting a fair look at all. I found it much more useful than the voter guide that comes in the mail. In fact, I ended up changing my vote to Jody Rushmor after watching his video. I only wish there was a similar section for positions 8 and 9. Thank you, Tracy.

I voted for Tavel. He is the right choice for WEST SEATTLE.

    toolazytoolook, it’s 49 cents.

Thanks, Sue. We bought “forever stamps” a while back for the very few occasions in which we use postal mail.

Yes, the “Last Look” was very useful for getting the “flavor” of each candidate. I’ve been urging everyone I know to review it and then get out their vote.
My only wish is that we could vote for two candidates instead of just one.

+1 for Tavel, sorry Jody you were next…

FWIW, Roderick (Council Seat 8 – At Large) went on reddit to do his own ask-me-anything session. If you’re curious where he stands (vs Grant, Persak, or Burgess) he might have said something there (and it’s easy to search by keywords). Interesting approach when ballot returns are so meager among younger voters, in particular.

Thank you for the best voting guide I have read in decades. Your work on it was excellent, particularly the video interviews and list of contributions and contributors. I feel very fortunate to live in West Seattle and have the West Seattle Blog at my fingertips!

Sorry, comment time is over.
