TRAFFIC/TRANSIT TODAY: Tuesday updates and alerts

(Four WS-relevant views; more cams on the WSB Traffic page)
Good morning!

ALERTS: SDOT plans work on Klickitat Way today through Thursday … At the Fauntleroy ferry dock, more overnight pavement repairs are planned.

THURSDAY-SUNDAY I-90 REMINDER: Every day this week, we’re reminding you about the Thursday-Sunday I-90 bridge closures during Blue Angels practices/performances – two on Thursday and one per day Friday-Sunday.

9:09 AM: If you haven’t left yet, don’t head for northbound I-5 – a crash is blocking two lanes just north of the exit from the West Seattle Bridge.

9:24 AM: Per WSDOT (and “Happy Tuesday” in comments), the scene is clear.

Been sitting for 20 minutes on Spokane between 1st and 6th. Appears to be disabled vehicle on ramp from Spokane to I 5 n?

Maybe it’s further up on I5 n? I saw a DOT tow truck head up the ramp and now I 5 n traffic is sitting and not moving from Spokane to I 5. Big mess. Just sitting. Big back up under the bridge eastbound. Never heard so many horns.

Looks like a crash somewhere by the West Seattle Bridge exit to northbound I-5 but I can’t tell yet from the discussion if it’s south or north of it.

Looks like just north of there. Two lanes blocked. Adding.

I left CA Ave 50 minutes ago. 4 miles.

Now semis and cars are crossing the double while line adding to the back up

All clear now. That was painful.

From east marginal way approximately east to airport way have always known the elevated roadway as Spokane St. viaduct. This stretch is not a bridge. What have you readers out there considered it?

    • WSB July 28, 2015 (11:13 am)

Yes, it is a bridge. In fact, all elevated roadways are described by professionals as “bridges” – the Alaskan Way Viaduct is a bridge, too. The Spokane Street Viaduct is part of the West Seattle Bridge. (WSDOT has finally stopped calling it by its ancient name the West Seattle Freeway, at least.)
