TRAFFIC/TRANSIT TODAY: Friday updates; Highway 99 project reminder

(Four WS-relevant views; more cams on the WSB Traffic page)
No alerts so far this morning. One big reminder for next week and beyond:

HIGHWAY 99 LANE CLOSURES: The long-term lane closures just north of downtown are now expected to start next Wednesday. And next Monday night into Tuesday morning, northbound 99 will close completely starting at the Battery Street Tunnel. Details here.

8:32 AM NOTE: Still a relatively quiet commute today!

This closure of 99 is ridiculous. A tunnel boring machine that hasn’t moved since late 2013, and who knows if and when it will move again, yet we need to install bases for future signs so we will clog N/B for 2 months and S/B for 3 months. When will the people of Seattle revolt?

There is no car coalition in Seattle so expect more of the same.

SO true, KT. Common sense is not used in these decisions. In fact, common sense seems to have disappeared almost entirely.

Any idea what’s in the works for Harbor Ave by Salty’s? Noticed signage about flagger/road work ahead….

Sorry, comment time is over.
