West Seattle Crime Watch: Morgan Junction business shot at

Somebody fired two shots into the front window of a south Morgan Junction business less than an hour ago. Our photo shows one of the bullet holes in the glass at Stella Ruffington, a dog-care center in the 7000 block of California SW. No one at the business wanted to comment; police say no one was hurt, neither human nor canine. They were trying to sort out the circumstances.

Scary. Who does that? That is a relatively populated area with Cafe Ladro next door. What time did it happen?

Thank goodness everyone is alright! Stella’s is a wonderful place and the staff take really good care of their pups. They don’t deserve this and neither do the dogs that were boarding overnight,

This is awful. They do boarding, so there was likely a caretaker and dogs inside at the time. My thoughts are with the owners and staff. We take our dog there for grooming and the occasional daycare/boarding and it has always been a great experience.

Sounds more like a drive by shooting to me with an individual being the target, not the business.

I’m happy no one was hurt. Stella Ruffington ‘s is a great place. Sorry some toilet-paper-wad of person did this. How scary.

Crime victims finding multiple photographers at their home/business are generally upset, scared, angry enough, even without having to deal with media attention. We don’t push people to talk but if they want to, we’re there to listen. In this case, we and a TV photographer were there quite soon after it happened and someone who appeared to be associated with the business expressed a desire for us and them to leave. Can’t blame them, but the law permits photography of anything visible from public property (in this case, we were on the sidewalk); we took photos, talked to police, moved on. – TR
