West Seattle restaurants: Quick updates on 2 opening soon

From the “in case you were wondering” file … two more quick followups on what will likely be the next two West Seattle restaurants to open:

COASTLINE: As first reported here last summer, this is the burger joint that is going into the former Shoofly Pie Company spot at 4444 California SW. We checked in with proprietor Aaron Shepherd, who also owns Copper Coin in Admiral; he says they’re hoping to be open before year’s end. In the meantime, Coastline is listed on posters as the starting point for the West Seattle Santa Pub Crawl on Saturday night, and Shepherd says they will be keeping that commitment by pouring beers – just no burgers yet!

BLUE MOON BURGERS: As first reported here last spring, this Seattle mini-chain is converting the former Alki Auto Repair (which moved to Luna Park) location at 2504 Alki Ave. SW. A spokesperson tells us that Blue Moon is now hoping to be open by mid-January.

As long as we’re wondering — any idea when Top Pot will be open on Alki?

On the list for future update.

I thought the pub crawl was Dec 6th? Not correct? Where do we find info about a Dec 20th pub crawl?

This is a different pub crawl. Only info I have is from a poster seen in the window at Poggie Tavern (yes, we gather information in a variety of ways, including on foot!) and it’s in our Holiday Guide – “West Seattle Santas” pub crawl, first stop Coastline on Saturday (12/20) at 5 pm, then Shadowland at 6, and I didn’t write the rest down. No contact info to be seen on poster, don’t know the charge. Gotta be out there somewhere on Facebook or Meetup or something!
      .
(update) I found a FB event page (adding to our guide too) https://www.facebook.com/events/628433240619862

Yum cannot WAIT for Blue Moon! Their embracing gluten free food is awesome. Gfree onions rings – yum! Gfree grilled cheese- yum! Gfree-BLT – Yum! Gfree burgers – Yum! Love Blue Moon!

I contributed to the Coastline Kickstarter — which failed. Was that for additional funding and they still have a solid business model? I’m excited for their opening but am just curious since they never posted any update to the Kickstarter.

So excited for Coastline because Copper Coin is the second best burger in West Seattle and I know that the owner is related to the owner of Red Mill, which I have longed for in West Seattle.

Also excited for Blue Moon on Alki, but I don’t have any direct experience with them.

    Awesome!

Can’t wait. Love Blue Moon burgers, they are fantastic. Been waiting all year since I heard they were coming to Alki.

Also, really excited about Coastline! Copper Coin is great and I live in walking distance of Coastline, so I may be in trouble!

The Blue Moon- mid-January date seems incredibly ambitious, considering we drove by yesterday and it looks like the only that has changed at the site (so far) is the sign. I mean, they’ve put a sign and a fence up, but it doesn’t look like anybody’s done ANYTHING to convert that from a service station to a restaurant.
(ha- my husband suggested maybe this is supposed to be mid- Jan 2016, not 2015. I mean, they are not even ready to call King county health for an initial inspection, much less a follow up make sure they corrected anything secondary inspection. It still looks like a service station. hopefully we are wrong and it’s not a whole nother year. maybe by this summer if we are lucky !)

Noticed that too … I believe there’s been more work inside than you’d suspect from outside, but unfortunately you can only do what the permits allow you to do; I tell the story of how it was something like a year and a half from the time we first saw a liquor-license application for “Spring Hill” to the time they finally opened. (Now Ma’Ono, of course.)

Is Coastline still open? Operating ? I tried looking up website / phone number/ menu, etc. and nothing….Will drive over to check. I guess.

Yes, they are now open their regular schedule, according to a note on New Year’s Day, 11-9 daily. We passed by earlier and saw the “OPEN” sign. Unfortunately, they seem to be relying on Facebook at the moment, and I’ll spare you my rant about how that’s fool’s gold … you reach the vocal minority (hundreds) but not the silent, searching majority (thousands). But since information is our business, whatever it takes, we try to provide it – here’s the direct link to their menu post on FB, and it should be visible even if you don’t use the service: https://www.facebook.com/coastlineburgers/photos/a.1595208547380188.1073741831.1555732147994495/1595299587371084/?type=1&theater

Thanks! my google search of ‘coastline burgers’ did not yield their facebook page, so yeah relying on FB doesn’t seem to be the way to go- thanks for the help!

Anything new on Blue Moon? Inquiring minds want to know!

    • WSB January 8, 2015 (6:32 pm)

They’re working away. I have a pretty solid contact and am pretty confident we’ll get info when there’s info to get …

Sorry, comment time is over.
