West Seattle Crime Watch: Store held up; police search for robbers

ORIGINAL REPORT, 12:19 PM: If you’re noticing the police response in the Delridge/Cambridge area, police are searching for at least one suspect in an armed robbery. The Guardian One helicopter is expected in the area shortly helping with the search.

ADDED 12:26 PM: Just talked to SPD spokesperson Det. Drew Fowler. The Tienda Super store in the 9400 block of Delridge was held up by two men who came in through its back door and stole cash at gunpoint. No one was hurt. Police are still searching for the robbers, both described as black men in their 20s, one 6’2″ with “facial scruff,” balding, gray hoodie, black pants, the other 5-6, thin, wearing a blue “do-rag,” white T-shirt, blue jeans. One robber was carrying a black backpack. If you have any information, call 911.

4:27 PM: Just checked again with SPD. Nobody in custody so far.

PLEASE call 911. This is not the place to post a tip, police will not see it, they are still out in the area. Thank you.

@ readertip – that’s so funny, i actually called 911 to report that I saw two individuals matching the suspect description near the Montridge apartments. They harassed someone I know (rather not give out details here on a public forum) from the bus stop – calling her a “ho” totally unprovoked (this happened earlier this week near the Montridge apartments). I don’t know if they’re the same individuals who committed the robbery, but they certainly are total scumbags. I hope they get picked up by the police, I’m tired of uneducated morons running roughshod over our community – who harasses women in public? Lots of disgusting people over at those apartments – we constantly see tweakers and drug deals going on in that alleyway. I’d be willing to wager a substantial percentage of the people there at any one time have outstanding warrants. Sad I even have to worry about posting this information here on this forum – is it a unlikely assumption that they can even read?

I can tell you from the scanner that police are definitely checking out tips in various places, so if you haven’t called, please do. There has not yet been an arrest so far as I know.

Wait..@readertip see’s 2 men who may be suspects in an armed robbery and you post it on the comments section of the west seattle blog instead of calling 911? Our society is doomed.

Wsb do you have an update on this?

    • WSB August 15, 2014 (3:44 pm)

Nothing new that I know of. I will be checking with SPD in a bit to see if anyone was booked. We confirmed with the store owner that yes, he was held up – police were out looking and were no longer at the store.

    My neighborhood sucks. :(

    • WSB August 15, 2014 (4:26 pm)

Smokey, might I say, since it’s Friday and I’m hoping things get cheerier from here … no neighborhood itself sucks, but criminals suck? … Anyway, I wish I had good news to report such as an arrest but I just called SPD and no, nobody in custody yet. – TR

    who harasses women in public?
    .
Speaking from experience, lots of people.
    .
I hope these guys are caught. Hate it when stores get held up.

@datamuse, I realize that many women are harassed, my question was rherorical. Perhaps I should of said what kind of person harasses women in public. Also, this went beyond disgusting catcalls and unsolicited advances. These guys are trying to scare and intimidate women.

What a**holes! Yep, that is what I thought when I heard and read about this. I was trying really hard to resist commenting.
But then I walked out my door this morning and my neighbor told me that someone had stolen her car! We are about 2 blocks from this store. I don’t know or care if it’s related that is for others to determine.
What I do know is that these people who steal from working people, or really anyone, are a**holes. In a different world, different mindset, than the people I know….Maybe I am getting old, but come on? What kind of a jerk does these things!?!?!?
And since I am commenting already… re: above posts. No one should harass women in public or private. In my opinion, men who do that are in a class by themselves.

Gotcha, Ennui29. I guess, in this case, the kind of person who holds up a store.

Sorry, comment time is over.
