Update: Another flasher reported in Holy Rosary School vicinity

(UPDATED WEDNESDAY EVENING with SPD Blotter info)

1:03 PM: Thanks to multiple Holy Rosary School parents who have forwarded this alert sent in the past hour:

There was another report of an inappropriate exposure during lunch time recess today. This was a different man and he was outside the school property. The police and neighboring schools were notified immediately. Staff will be outside at the end of school.

That’s the entirety of the alert, with no descriptive information, but we’ll be checking with police ASAP and adding anything we learn from them. The previous report was on September 9th, and police went public with additional details the next day. (The school is at 41st/42nd/Genesee on the north end of The Junction.)

ADDED 1:08 PM: Just talked with Seattle Police spokesperson Det. Mark Jamieson. He says this is all that’s in their system right now, since an officer’s apparently still out at the scene and hoping to talk with whomever directly witnessed this: The call came in at 11:42 am, that “a male was exposing himself”; the person was described only as white, with dark hair, and possible facial hair. He was said to have left in a vehicle and was reported to have been last seen headed westbound on Dakota.

ADDED 7:38 PM: A story about this has just appeared on SPD Blotter, but there’s no additional descriptive information:

Officers are on the lookout for a man who exposed himself to school children on a playground in West Seattle today. On September 18th at approximately 11:40 a.m. officers responded to Holy Rosary School located in the 4100 block of 42nd Avenue SW for reports of a suspicious man exposing himself to school children.

Preliminary investigation indicates that a school staff member was monitoring the children at recess. Three 14 year old girls approached the recess monitor and told her that a strange man had been watching them from his vehicle. The girls first noticed the man was parked on 41st Avenue SW. As he watched the girls, he held a cell phone near his face as if he was taking pictures or videotaping them. The girls thought he was suspicious so they moved to another part of the playground. The suspect then repositioned his car to be closer to the girls. From where the girls were they could see the driver’s side of the car. The door was open and the suspect was naked from the waist down. The girls immediately ran to notify the recess monitor. As they did this the suspect sped off westbound on SW Dakota Street.
The whole incident occurred very quickly, lasting a couple of minutes. The suspect was gone upon the arrival of responding officers. The investigating officers reminded school staff and students to be alert of any suspicious activity and report it to police immediately.

Anyone with information about this incident or who may know the identity or whereabouts of the suspect is asked to call 911 or Seattle Police and refer to this incident. Anonymous tips are welcome.

It was a different car, but they AREN’T positive it was a different man. Seems unlikely two different flashers are in the same territory.

  • Vehicle? September 18, 2013 (2:12 pm)

    Is there a vehicle description?

Description of car is black older Toyota like sedan, kind of beat. Noticeable bright tail lights.

Please don’t let your kids walk home alone until this guy/these guys are apprehended. Lets keep our babies safe!

  • alkidude September 18, 2013 (6:36 pm)

It is apparently a different person – radically different description for the guy today from the guy last week.

Older, 4 door black sedan; kind of sporty look, perhaps.

Agree, @4thGenWestSide. Hard to believe there could be 2 different guys in the space of one week. Most likely the same perp in a different car. Best to just keep your eyes open, and have a frank talk with your kid(s) about what to do if they come across this guy.

SPD Blotter has just published an item about this – but no descriptive info at all – those of you who mentioned a vehicle description, if that comes from any kind of followup alert, we didn’t get it, but would like to be able to add it – TR

The Festival is this weekend – I hope these psychotics don’t show up there.

There is a black 4 door late 80s or early 90s, beat up looking sedan that has been left on SW Dakota, in between 35th and 36th, since last Thursday or Friday. In fact, I was planning on reporting it as an abandoned vehicle tomorrow. I have never seen it before last week. Rear end damage on bummer and trunk like it had been hit, also the hood has some kind of paint damage or splotchiness. No idea if there’s a connection, but wanted to share before I made the abandoned vehicle report.

That should be bumper not bummer, can’t see the edit button. lol

We did call SPD’s media office this morning to ask for any descriptive information that might now be in the report – will add anything we hear back. – TR

  • HRSMom September 19, 2013 (11:25 am)

Ms. Judd is awesome! She wouldn’t let anything happen to those kids. He certainly cannot ruin WestFest!!! WestFest is great! Come one, come all (with pants please)!!!

I agree. We cannot let a few bad eggs interfere with our beloved school. I hope the community will show its support for Holy Rosary by coming to Westfest on Friday night or Saturday.

Re: WestFest – The preview is linked in our TOP STORIES list on the sidebar – including the entertainment schedule – TR

Are comments moderated and selected on the wsb? My last comment about unattended children in the play yards of holy rosary didnt show up. Think it’s important for parents to know, I live in the neighborhood and often walk by when children are far from the school and there seems to be no supervision.

I just finished submitting the abandoned vehicle report that I mentioned last night. I added a note in my abandoned vehicle report comments about checking into the possibility of the car matching some comments here re: what at least one of the cars at these scenes has resembled. The one I reported is actually an Infiniti G20, but I could see how someone might think it’s a Toyota because it has that same early 90s boxy sedan look like they did back then.

Hey, Tee, check out the new story about Westside’s sighting – the car in both cases, police just told me, was a beat-up black sedan with body damage. If you think it sounds like a possible match, you might consider escalating the call to 911 – if you are seeing the car now – and tell them it matches the description of the car in the indecent exposure case. I know this case is a big priority for SPD today and I am sure they would want to know … you could even mention the call # … this tweet includes the one for the Westside sighting:

I’m at work now, but the last time I saw it was about 11am and I took pictures at the time then submitted the report as soon as I had time at work. Should I still call 911 even though I’m not in West Seattle right now and haven’t seen it since I was home around 11?

    • WSB September 19, 2013 (3:00 pm)

I would. And remember the dispatchers are typically gruff but don’t let that deter you. At least you can say you tried. Sometimes we hear SPD looks at comments here but I would never assume.

  • holly September 19, 2013 (3:25 pm)

it was definetly a different man. the man last week was old a fat in a white SUV. this man was young and thin in a black sports car. parents are getting involved with this who dont know the details

All I know is that they better catch this creep or creeps before this gramma does. I am so sick of these perverts terrorizing innocent children.

Sorry, comment time is over.
