West Seattle Crime Watch followup: Stolen gun found

We reported here Monday on a big police response and search on the south side of Southwest Athletic Complex. Our information trail ended with police searching for a gun after discovering one of the suspects had bullets. Today, SPD Blotter picks up the trail, explaining that “Boomer” the bomb-detecting K-9 found the gun – which turned out to have been stolen in a burglary two weeks ago. The report says three suspects were caught; the two oldest ones, both 16, were booked into juvenile detention.

The “oldest” were sixteen? WTF is this world coming to?

The third suspect was 15. And if you follow through to the SPD Blotter link, you will note police described one of the suspects – from the way it’s written I’m not entirely clear which one – as someone with whom they are familiar, who is generally known to be armed.

There are role models out there somewhere. Dad, brothers, gang brothers, hang out groups. If we don’t give the future’s kids positive role models in people who are close to them, then natural instinct takes over and those who say you are one of us will give them another kind.

    Nothing new happening here.

Where the hell are these kids parents? It’s disgusting and very sad.

Hi, on the subject of young gangs/ groups possibly up to no good, what is the deal with the groups of young men soliciting at the store on the corner of Morgan and 35th? It doesn’t look good to me. The other day they were all wearing red, and some looked really young, like 10 years old.

Why weren’t they in school? Are they still allowed in school or have they been expelled? Is there such a thing as truancy officers? Seems like this a big hang-out spot – has SPD increased their patrols in the area?

My wife and I were walking up those stairs heading to the baseball diamond and passed a couple running and giggling girls.
    .
When we got to the top we saw that someone had set fire to a shirt on a fence right next to a line of trees. We put it out and called 911.
    .
Kids around Chief Sealth are out of control.

Sorry, comment time is over.
