Three West Seattle Crime Watch reader reports to share. First two are home burglaries. From Dana, who’s in Westwood, between 32nd and 34th on Barton:
Our house was broken into (Thursday) sometime between 9:30 am-3:45 pm. In bedroom window, out the back door. I think it was typical robbery: they got laptop, jewelry, prescription (expired) meds, and Wii controllers(?). Reported it to SPD, they filed report and took some fingerprints. Officer said (reminding all of us) this is the season for break-ins (before/around Christmas).
That indeed was the reminder we heard from a Community Police Team officer at this week’s Admiral Neighborhood Association meeting.
Another burglary report came in from Megan – with the burglar/s’ odd choice of how to make off with the loot:
We were out of town Friday, Nov 9 (after 1 pm) and came home (Monday) at 3:30 pm to discover someone had broken into our house in the 3400 block of 49th Ave SW in the Admiral district. They damaged two windows on the back of our house trying to get in. They finally had luck on the third window.
They went through the entire house taking all of my jewelry, my baby’s piggy bank, cash, my wallet (I had taken a smaller one w/ just the needed cards for our trip) and some video games. Then they walked right out the front door. They carried all of our stuff away in my daughter’s blue and brown butterfly diaper bag. I’ve checked with some neighbors and no one saw anything. … Hopefully someone saw something and can help us!
Also in Admiral, Tracy found a credit card in her driveway Tuesday morning, and wonders if it might have been stolen from someone in the area. She’s near 44th and SW Seattle. She says the card has a man’s name on it. We advised reporting it to police. Speaking of whom – next Tuesday is when you can bring neighborhood concerns to police during the November meeting of the West Seattle Crime Prevention Council, which also is looking at safety-related transit issues – full preview here.
