UPDATE: Hearing a lot of sirens? South end fire calls

7:12 PM: Two Seattle Fire calls in south West Seattle right now – a brush fire has been working in the 10200 block of Marine View Drive for more than an hour and a half, and a car fire with “exposure” to a nearby building is working in the 9200 block of 24th SW. We’re out checking on both.

7:27 PM: Here’s the car-fire scene:

Minor damage to the garage. No injuries reported.

7:40 PM: The brush-fire call closed before we were able to get to the area to check it out.

Saw the SW fire while on a walk with my family. Looked like it was an old black VW bug on fire in the driveway of the house on the corner.

Just added a photo – we finally got over there. Old Bug indeed.

I wonder what chemicals are in all that foam, and the effect it has once it reaches Puget Sound…?

According to what I have found online, the department uses Novacool, which is described as nontoxic/biodegradable.

*After finding that, I also found it had come up in a previous WSB comment discussion

Street drains no longer empty directly to Puget Sound and Lake Washington, part of the massive infrastructure required by Federal regulations.

Not entirely yet, and full compliance will never be met due to topographical limitations.  But great progress has been made none the less.

Thank you for that information. It’s good to hear that there is progress being made. 👍🏼❤️⭐️
