CRIME WATCH FOLLOWUP: 1 year later, Alki murder remains unsolved

(May 23, 2017, WSB photo by Christopher Boffoli)

Tonight marks exactly a year since 23-year-old Jordan D. Thomas was shot and killed at Alki Beach. It happened around 9 pm at 62nd and Alki. In the days after, police said they believed that the victim was targeted – and that to date remains the only information made public about the case. We just checked with SPD again and they say the murder remains unsolved but still an “active and ongoing investigation.” Information is still welcome via the SPD Homicide Tip Line, 206-233-5000. At the time, some were concerned it could mean the start to a long, violent summer at the beach, but no other Alki incidents followed; the rest of the year’s West Seattle violence, including a deadly shooting and deadly stabbing, happened in other areas.

“…but no other Alki incidents followed.”

That’s because the police increased their presence on Alki, including parking their paddy wagon in a visible spot right on the avenue.

I was walking my dog with my wife and child just last night, and commented that there wasn’t a police presence, and that we probably won’t see one until someone gets shot. (Again.)

Not nightly. We looked for a good long while, and noted on Twitter when we did see them. Also, the emphasis for this summer has begun (we have seen the mobile precinct there already), and that’ll be in our upcoming story on the Block Watch Captains Network meeting.

And still no developments on Greggette Guy’s case, either?

That’s one of several other unsolved WS murders. I checked on this one because of the date.

It’s too bad no one ever sees anything when these murders occur, leaving a killer out on the loose knowing they got away with a hit in  the light in front of who knows how many witnesses.

I will say a prayer for you Jordan. Rest in Paradise

Any updates on the man killed at the stadium parking lot?

Nope, same thing, “active and ongoing investigation.”

(Edited to add, this is from TR, who was briefly using Patrick’s computer, which pretty much never happens, and I didn’t notice the comment posted from him)

I dearly hope that Gregette Guy and Mr. Jordan get justice.  Their poor families.  Lives cut short.  Such tragedies.

Looks like Seattle spoke too soon…

Sorry, comment time is over.
