West Seattle power outage: 100+ customers in south Arbor Heights/Arroyos/Seola

4:26 AM: Thanks for the tip about an outage in the south Arbor Heights/Arroyos/Seola area. Seattle City Light‘s map says 106 homes are without power; no cause listed so far. (This is near the area where City Light plans to start a project soon to replace underground cable, with an informational open house this Wednesday.)

7:45 AM:: As commenters note, SCL has since updated to blame a tree.

1:25 PM: Restored since our last check a couple hours ago.

About 3:16 head an extremely loud boom appeared to come from the end of 35th ave. Wow it was loud!

The map says the outage started at 3:24 (thanks again to the person who texted around 4:10, we wouldn’t know otherwise) so that might be it. Nothing on the SFD log.

Yeah really loud boom then lost power right after. Looks like they are saying it is a tree that caused the outage :(

I heard the huge boom and saw a flash of light.

SCL outage page is now listing the cause as “tree.”

Yup, heard and felt that boom here on Ocean View. Glad to hear it was just a transformer or similar. It was crazy loud!

Saw the flash of light. Heard the boom. Still no power…

A couple of repair trucks have shown up at pocket park and seola beach drive. Hope it’s a quick fix!
