UPDATE: Morgan Junction duck-family sighting (and it’s Seattle Wildlife Week!)

11:58 AM: These ducks seem to be taking Urban Wildlife Week very seriously. The photo is from Cindi Barker, who is worried about their safety but hasn’t gotten any help/ideas so far – she has tried Seattle Animal Shelter and SPD’s non-emergency line. They are currently in the area behind O’Neill Plumbing (WSB sponsor) on California north of Fauntleroy.

12:13 PM: Update from Cindi: “They got away from me under fences . Last seen northbound 6000 block 42nd and possibly along alley. Godspeed!” So – beware of ducks.

P.S. It really is Urban Wildlife Week (here, Seattle Wildlife Week).

I wish them the best of luck….  Please keep your dogs away from them.

Please don’t ‘rescue’ them; it seems like whenever the seal sitters perform a rescue it proves fatal.

     Just let them duck around.

      Or “duck off”?

I was just following them at a distance, and when they crossed Fauntleroy and then Graham, got into the street to flag down cars.  At one point, in the alley, they all stopped cold and hunkered down.  It took me awhile to figure out what scared them, it was crows above.   Once those left, they continued down the alley. So not just dogs, but crows and our local eagles as well.  I have no idea where mama duck was leading them, I hope someone has a backyard pond around here!

If only our children would behave in such a manner.

My 5 younger siblings and I (youngest was 2 yrs and oldest was 12 yrs) would walk behind my mom in a straight line behind her quacking occasionally just to drive her nuts. It was pretty funny!

I live in Seaview and was shocked to see ducks in my yard when I came home the other day and they weren’t babies. Not sure where they are coming from.

At about 8:25am today I was turning off Fauntleroy heading eastbound on Juneau and I saw a brown rabbit. I was really surprised! It hopped into the bushes of the house there on the corner.

By my count, on my less than perfect screen, this parent has eleven offspring. If all of a sudden i had eleven kids I think i might take some risks too and wander into areas that might not seen common and typical. Eleven kids. Affordable childcare would be at the top of my list every day until i found it.

Best wishes to this little family for sure :-).
