Seen @ first of two West Seattle Neighborhood Greenway drop-ins

(WSB photos)

Until noon, you can drop by Uptown Espresso in The Junction to talk with SDOT about the next phase of planning for the West Seattle Neighborhood Greenway, which, as we’ve been reporting, is now planned to extend all the way to North Admiral. The boards set up on easels include more specifics of what they’re looking at, including even the intersection right here in front of the coffee shop:

There are also details of another block proposed for some rechannelization, this one on the north side of The Junction, by Holy Rosary:

If you can’t make it to this morning’s drop-in session for feedback and info, there’s another one on Thursday (April 19th), 4:15-5:45 pm, at West Seattle (Admiral) Library, 2306 42nd SW. And you can provide info via a new online survey, here – that includes some of the routing and rechannelization options we’re seeing on the boards here at the meeting.

What are they doing with an added island at Edmunds/California/Erskine?  I’m not confident that drawing is compatible with a right-turning, articulated bus turning from Eastbound Edmunds to South on California.

Looks like a safety issue for both walkers and drivers.   I don’t see how it improves this intersection in any way.   It’s already frightening as is.

Guys, they are looking for feedback on all of this – please take the survey (linked again above) if you didn’t get to go to this event and can’t go to the next one. The survey shows all the proposals – they have chosen the route but not what will be done along it.

When I looked at the greenways survey the questions were mostly about the section through the junction, not the phase 1 and 2 part.  The route along 42nd in the junction seemed to be “set” and none of the materials talked about this California/Edmunds/Erskine change, which is 1 block away from the greenway.

Thanks, TR.   We will be at the next one.

I took the survey and don’t recall them saying anything about this intersection in it, and I don’t see an added island in the images, am I missing something?

The WSB photo in the story of the California/Edmunds/Erskine intersection is something that looks to have not made it into any materials on the greenway website or survey, which makes sense since it’s a block away from the greenway.  I’m very curious what the rest of the board was talking about, so all the more reasons to see if it is brought to the Thursday event – Thursday, April 19: 4:15 PM – 5:45 PM

Look again at the survey – the “Edmunds to Alaska” (mislabeled S. rather than SW but oh well) page – just above question 6.

Is there any organized community representation for The Junction in reguards to this bike path?

Sorry, comment time is over.
