CRIME WATCH FOLLOWUP: Another warrant out for Gregory L. Thompson

You might remember the photo at right, published by Seattle Police when they announced the arrest of Gregory Lee Thompson on Puget Ridge two months ago, after a warrant that netted “hundreds of pills and 19 guns.” We followed up on the case, and found that Thompson had gotten out of jail less than two days after the arrest; four days later, we reported that a felony drug charge was filed against him, and he was back in jail … for nine hours, getting out after posting bond on $20,000 bail. During our routine periodic check of ongoing cases, we discovered that Thompson failed to show up for a court hearing this past Monday, and so there’s a warrant out for his arrest, this time carrying $40,000 bail, as ordered by Superior Court Judge Theresa Doyle.

    Is anyone really surprised?

      Shocked…just shocked I say 🙄

maryv – why WOULDN’T you want to know what he looks like? In my mind I was wondering moreso so if I see him I can avoid avoid avoid (while also calling the police). A person with a felony warrant, a known drug dealer, and apparent gun hoarder is not someone I want to be around, let alone my unborn child or 18 month old. Sounds like he’s in the neighborhood so yes I’d like to know what he looks like so I can quickly walk in the other direction, while protecting my children and calling police.

  • wseakell April 12, 2018 (3:33 pm)

That’s unnerving. Is there a picture of him so we can keep our eyes out and call the police if we see him?

    • WSB April 12, 2018 (3:40 pm)

Mugshots are not available unless people have served time in the state prison system. I am checking with them just in case but have not heard back.

    Great job criminal justice system!

Why do I feel like every day on here I read another story about just how easy criminals have it? Why would anyone not commit crimes? You rarely do time and you are back on the streets quickly to re-offend.

  • maryv April 12, 2018 (4:25 pm)

Why are so many people curious on what he looks like? Even if you did spot him and you called the police would they really get there in time to “nab” him??? So many armchair detectives here in WS.

I hate to say it, if he does get caught and put back into jail he’ll more than likely bail himself out again because crime does pay…not in a good way but it does, why do you think there are so many criminals.

    • WSB April 12, 2018 (4:44 pm)

They might! That really has happened. Although police also tend to know where their so-called “frequent flyers” tend to hang out – we often hear scanner discussion of warrant arrests. (We don’t always know WHO, though, or we’d have more reports about them. We do watch the jail register for names we recognize.

Hello MaryV,  I’m with you. Let’s just let Gregory run loose. If somebody recognizes him, hopefully, they will mind their own business and not go ratting on him to the cops! Besides, he hasn’t to my knowledge, killed anybody yet.

Some of us live right next to him or close, we see what happens and the reasons guys like Greg actually go to jail, are because of the “armchair detectives” and the community involvement.

We could just let him be and keep shooting heroin in front of our mailboxes like my neighbors and dealing drugs out front as our kids walk up and down the streets?

      Progress. Optimism.

Andy, that’s either sarcasm or a biased comment coming from someone monitoring the blog for him. Which he voiced he watches. Which he’s an idiot and going to continue to do dumb stuff, knowing we are watching, thinking he won’t get caught. Always comes back to bite you in the arse. It has already started and the processes will catch up with him. He is about to lose his house too. The SDCI has fined him numerous times for junk in the street and yard with (surprise), no follow up or payment. They will keep filing and he WILL eventually have a lien on his home. Neighbors will continue to report the issues and eventually the process will take its course. This is information directly given to certain individuals who live on the street, who attended a public meeting at the precinct about this house.

I / We see everything that happens. I/ We hear every conversation outside on the street. I have photos of every car that has came through and every face that is doing business with him. We have surveillance video. I have direct contact with the detective. The whole block is in on it.  The case is well taken care of but due to the powers of the court system, they have to take every step to make sure the case does not get thrown out due to the defense and any constitutional violations. *keyboard warriors relax. You’re superior knowledge of the system won’t help.

Maryv,  it’s called being active. Peace

  • Ra April 12, 2018 (6:07 pm)

Whoa that’s a lot of drugs! He’ll get caught again. They always do. Just a matter of time.

  • Azimuth April 12, 2018 (6:44 pm)

Indeed Ra… Though personally the guns bother me more

I don’t understand why a picture is not available . . . seems like TMZ can post a mugshot of a celerity within two hours of a DUI .  .  . this guy is not new to the system.

    • WSB April 12, 2018 (7:58 pm)

I’ve explained this before many times. Local law enforcement does not make mugshots available, period. They just don’t. Not for me, not for larger media, not for you. Once in a rare while, they’ll decide they need to put out a wide net for someone, and they will come up with a driver license photo or surveillance camera or something – but otherwise, the only mugshots available are from the state Department of Corrections, if someone has been in their custody (as in, sentenced to state custody for a felony, and I just finished checking this guy’s record – he has not). One exception: Registered sex offenders. These are the Seattle/King County rules. Can’t speak for wherever the celebrities you mention are getting arrested, but it ain’t here, and hasn’t been that way in the 27 years I’ve worked in media in Seattle. – TR

There used to be a free publication, much like the Little Nickel, except it was all mug shots of people wanted for felonies. This was the early to mid 90’s, and in the city of Seattle. Used to see a lot of people I knew in said publication. Washington’s Most Wanted on Q13 also seems to have no trouble with getting King County Jails intake photos.  I also remember seeing Hope Solo’s booking photo which was in Bellevue I believe.

        • WSB April 12, 2018 (11:16 pm)

Do tell me more about that publication if you remember the name. We arrived here in 1991 and I don’t recall ever seeing anything like that. Anyway, I mentioned that if police really want to get someone’s photo out, that’s one of the exceptions. Q13, one of my former local TV news employers, has an exclusive partnership with CrimeStoppers to spotlight certain major regional cases that CrimeStoppers tells them about (scrolling through their past week or so of stuff, most isn’t even from King County). This is not that type of case, nor are most of the cases we report on; if I hadn’t continued checking on court documents, the last you likely would have heard of this suspect, for example, would have been the SPD Blotter item two months ago, which didn’t even include his name – I followed up on his status, whether he was charged, etc., and continue to check on dozens of cases. If this guy’s mug shot were available for publication, I’d certainly be running it. I hope it’s at least circulating among police. – TR

Morey…you knew a lot of people in that publication? I hope your choice of friends has improved now ;-)

          About Mr. Thompson…maybe a novel approach next time he’s arrested…no bail.  Yes, I know that’s difficult, but still…3rd time’s a charm?

  • pupsarebest April 12, 2018 (8:35 pm)

    Absolutely, mind-boggingly outrageous.

If I were to commit even half the crimes on this CRIMINAL’s  roster, I expect I’d be locked up for years…

Do I really need to play by the rules?

    What am I doing wrong???

    • oh come on April 12, 2018 (9:06 pm)

Your love of puppies has clearly limited your potential as a hardened criminal!

(But yeah, the bail–even the second time–seemed really low for a drug dealer)

Thank you Mark Zuckerberg for providing us with such a useful tool to find info on people like this…that they volunteer to share. *Insert keyboard warrior comments here.

Jokes aside, there’s a link to his picture. He’s the heavy set dude on the left. His hair is dyed some weird pink color and is normally a blondish color.

I live directly across the street from him and a few houses over. I see everything that goes on. It’s a problem. You should most definitely call the cops if you see this guy. Use common sense. Don’t be obvious. It’s not hard. Be cordial, play dumb, call the cops.

A simple Facebook search will net you results on him.

Bounce in/out/in/out.  And these sellers have plenty of excess cash, what’s 20k or 40k?  Until judges get serious and give a no-bail warrant (which the dishonorable Theresa doyle should have done), this guy’s going to go until he kills someone.  If Thompson’s arrested on Doyle’s joke of a warrant, he’ll pay the pocket-change bail, and disappear again.  What a joke of a system.

Our stupid superior court judges can share the blame with Thompson after he kills someone.  1 no-show, and you say ‘no bail’.  19 guns Doyle.

Sorry, comment time is over.
