WEST SEATTLE CRIME WATCH: Puget Ridge raid nets drugs, guns

1:06 PM: The photo and report are just in via SPD Blotter:

Officers served a search warrant in West Seattle Sunday morning (and) found hundreds of pills and 19 guns.

Southwest Precinct Anti-Crime Team Officers converged on a home in the 7000 block of 18th Avenue SW Sunday at 10 a.m. and arrested a 28-year-old man as he attempted to flee through the back door of the house.

Officers searched the home and found 189 hydrocodone pills, 276 amphetamine pills, 3.5 grams of methamphetamine, 11 handguns, five rifles – one of which was modified with a bump stock – and three shotguns. Officers placed all of the weapons into evidence pending further investigation.

Officers booked the man into King County Jail for narcotics-related charges and will work with the prosecutor’s office on possible weapons charges.

8:40 PM: According to the jail register, the suspect was released this evening.

    Quite the collection!

    That photo.. absolutely terrifying.

Presumably the helicopter hanging out nearby was so TV had live aerial footage of the neighborhood where a thing happened yesterday.

    • WSB February 12, 2018 (2:02 pm)

Not related. The TV helicopter was over West Seattle for a bit (we tweeted this) because they’re trying to show the light-rail route, with feedback time starting today. (We went to this morning’s media briefing and I just published our story. Helicopterlessly.)

        ‘Helicopterlessly’ … 😆😆😆

At a house right across from the school? Yikes!

    • KBear February 12, 2018 (3:24 pm)

Sam-C, if you’re referring to the house you see when you click the Google Maps link in the story, that’s not necessarily the precise location of the bust. All we know from the story is that it’s in that block somewhere. Could be either side of the street.

That house on the map is definitely NOT the place. We walked by the house when it was “going down” It was a block further south on 18th.

Re: the map, we only have the block number so that’s where it’s mapped to, NOT to a specific address. We didn’t hear about this until the police announcement today (if you see a lot of police, please text or call us! 206-293-6302 – many things don’t generate scanner traffic so that’s the only way we know and can cover) so I have no firsthand knowledge and am still trying to pinpoint the arrestee on the jail log – TR

Jeez, not a good combo there. Thanks SPD!

Good work SPD!!!  Let’s hope for more of these types of raids to clean out the trash from family friendly neighborhoods.

In addition to being a huge annoyance to his neighbors, this guy and his associates are also linked to multiple thefts around West Seattle. SPD did an excellent job on their part – now I hope the justice system will work to keep him off the street for awhile.

It’s a house with multiple cars parked in front, the block south of the school.  He’d fill his lot so full of junky cars that he or his associate would have to park additional cars in front of his neighbors’ homes.  When asked to move, he’d retaliate by deliberately parking there for longer periods of time.  A total jerk who played the victim.  Multiple bad encounters with different neighbors on the street… even the elderly were not exempted!  Probably didn’t realize we would recognize him or his friends on WS Blog postings for package thefts and other crimes.    A belated gift the day after Neighbor Day for this block of 18th Ave SW!

Wow.   Who needs that much fire power in a family neighborhood?  I hope several of them are stolen so that they can tack on the charges.

    • Eric1 February 12, 2018 (7:27 pm)

Why would you want the guns to be stolen?  That is like saying I hope the cars in his yard are stolen so that it adds to the charges.  Some person used to own that stolen gun or car. Besides, it isn’t like possession of a stolen gun or car actually will add to a prison stay in Seattle.  I am surprised that the city clowncil allows the SPD to have a Southwest Precinct Anti-Crime Team.  It sounds like the team is biased against criminals and they profiled this fine citizen before they conducted the raid.

      .

Sarcasm aside, I hope it is their guns.  They get to forfeit them and  some of those guns are somewhat valuable.  Crime should hurt criminals and not someone else.  Thanks SPD for getting this guy off the street.

Gotta love this part… “According to the jail register, the suspect was released this evening.”  Think he’ll be around to make his hearing?

    • WSB February 12, 2018 (10:19 pm)

According to further research, he is awaiting trial in a drug-possession case from last year (found to have heroin and pills in his possession after being detained for alleged shoplifting at Delridge Home Depot last June), and has made his hearings in that one, with a trial-readiness hearing set for this Friday.

      • TM February 13, 2018 (6:38 pm)

        Great, he’s a two-time drug loser with guns…

Sorry, comment time is over.
