WEST SEATTLE CRIME WATCH: Police search for would-be burglar near Lowman Beach

A police search near Lowman Beach right now, with K-9 called out, following a reported burglary attempt. Someone called 911 to report a man using a ladder to try to break into a house in the 7000 block of Beach Drive SW, just south of Lowman Beach Park. The description just broadcast on police radio is a man in his 20s, Hispanic, black hair that’s long on top and short on the sides, a black sweatshirt and Carhartt-type pants. If you have any information, call 911.

This was my house. Watch out, guys – I was home alone with my lights on, listening to music, and this guy had the gall to try and come in through the window. He was using a ladder of mine – a rickety old wooden ladder that’s been hidden, grown over with ivy, for years. He couldn’t have seen it in the dark, which would leave me to believe that he’s scoped the place out previously. He didn’t run when I caught him, either; he just slowly set my ladder down and slowly walked away.

This man has something wrong with him. Keep your doors (and windows) locked and your eyes peeled. West Seattle is not as safe as it once was.

Olivia I’m so glad you’re ok. So scary. I’m frustrated he was never found.
