BIZNOTE: New name for ex-Kokoras – TeriFresh

Thanks for the tips about that new banner hanging outside the ex-Kokoras space in Morgan Junction. It proclaims “Grand Opening” for TeriFresh, though it’s not open yet. Kokoras closed three months ago and when we found a crew working inside, they told us they were remodeling. Then some time ago, a local businessperson reported seeing a flyer that said TeriFresh was coming; when we reported on Kokoras’s ownership change a little over a year ago, our story included a mention that the new owner owned TeriFresh in Maple Valley. We tried to contact them about the flyer and never got a response; we’ve also been going by looking for anyone at work inside, and there’s been nothing visible for a long time until the new banner. If you want to find out more about TeriFresh, here’s the website for their Maple Valley restaurant.

So the same owners who added sushi, teriyaki, and TVs, but different name and adjusted concept?

no, not the same owners, as far as I can see. The previous owner took over from Meanders, and tried to keep  the greek recipes from the original Kokora’s, even keeping the name. She had never run a restaurant before, and that went bust. This looks like a totally asian concept place.

Yes, TeriFresh is owned by the same person who bought Kokoras in December 2016 (from the former business partner of Miranda, I believe) and added sushi and teriyaki, as noted in our linked story about that changing of hands.

Let’s be honest, the biggest improvement was the 16 different open signs. No thanks.

This makes me happy! I will definitely stop by, especially as I pass by walking home from the C bus stop after a very long day at work!!

To the new owners – consider taking that mirrory window tint off the glass.  It disconnects the restaurant from the street.  And given how much has transition this place has gone through the last couple of years I want to see what is going on, not walk in to the unknown as a first experience.  (Also, LED dancy-lights are definitely a turn-off.)

    Blah

im really opening the Morgan Junction starts picking up its restaurant game. We are so behind the other junctions.

I will definitely be giving them a try. I am really hoping this place finally pulls through. TeriFresh’s menu looks good and it would be nice to have a ramen place in the Morgan Junction

Let’s give them a break until we have a chance to see what they will offer here. The menu for the Maple Valley  location makes it seem like a typical Asian place with lots of choices.  We have limited Asian cuisine in West Seattle and I’d like to see what they can do.

The menu at their Maple Valley location is huge!  Looking forward to giving them a try. Have a feeling they’ll do a big take-out business…hope they’re prepared for that.

Yeah, with Beveridge Place across the street, it’s an excellent opportunity for take out. Should do well.

When the new people reopened Kokoras, they actually didn’t keep the same recipes. I went in one time, and is was completely different. Too bad, it was at one time my favorite Greek restaurant.

Seattle has terrible Mediterranean options, as far as I can tell.    Where can one get a decent falafel around here?   Kokoras was the last place I knew of, but I only ever thought about driving down to morgan junction as a last resort or before a trip to Beveridge Place/Whiskey West.

    • WSB January 15, 2018 (12:20 pm)

Have you tried Falafel Salam’s relatively new Junction sit-down restaurant?

  • RayWest January 16, 2018 (7:59 am)

Unfortunate. I would hope for something more innovative and diverse than yet another teriyaki/sushi in West Seattle.  It’s always Asian or pizza. The original Kokoros was such a great addition to WS.  I’m sure this new one is a quality business and all, but I have no interest in trying them out.

Photo taken last night. Sign blown down or taken down? 🤔

Noticed a couple days ago that the banner was gone (which was after a bout of windy weather). Don’t know. We pass through the area multiple times daily and still haven’t seen activity visible in the space, day or night, since the “grand opening” banner went up. – TR
